I'm thinking of buying the Pronto TSU 7000 but I'm new to this remote lingo. I'm concerned that I may have issues getting it to control my Samsung HL-P5063W TV. I have the original remote if that helps but I keep reading about folks not able to turn it on and off with macros and not being able to switch between inputs. Is this going to be an issue or are these problems not a big deal if I can teach the Pronto from the original remote?

You shouldn't have any problem at all controling the set. I have an HL-P5663W and a TSU3000 and, excluding a discrete code for HDMI, it works perfectly. I have many macros set up and I love the remote and the TV. If you got a new 5063, you would probably be getting one with a newer firmware version and that would be even better as I think they finally have even more of the discrete codes (including both DVI and HDMI) for those versions. Here's a link that has a full discussion (the first few pages raise the issues, but the later pages talk about fixes):

I have a Samsung HPN5039 (50" Plazma). If you have the remote you will not have any problems. The power switch on my set toggles, like I feel sure yours does. If your tv is already on that means if you are using a macro with the "turn pwr on", it will turn the set off. There is probably a work around for this but I am not that experienced to know what that would be- others on this site do.

There is no problem making a macro for choosing "component 1, component 2 etc.

Here is an example of one of my macros for turning on the set, turning my cable box on, choosing my input (Component 2 in this case) then selecting my correct amp input, then finally jumping back to TV vewing page on the Pronto 7000.

1. Turn pwr on (TV)
2. Delay 4.00 seconds ( to give the set time to come on)
3.Turn on Cable Box
4. Delay .5 sec
5 Press "Down" curser
6..2 sec delay
7. Press "down" again
8. .2 sec delay
8. Press "Down" again
9 .2 sec delay
10. Press "down" again
11. Press "Enter" (or select
12. .2 sec delay
13. Select input on amp
14. .2 sec delay
15. Jump back to tv page on Pronto
16. Add Beep

I hope this helps you

Yes. It helps a bunch. It's cool to see what it might look like when set up. I'm hoping this works out without too much trouble. Some of the comments I read here make me worry. I see all kinds of discrete codes needed and getting downloaded and all these workaraounds plus PPENG?, PCF?, CCF? I'm hoping with my setup having one remote do everything in an efficent manner doesn't become a major issue.

A strong word of advice.

You should get David M. D'Arches' "The Ultimate Pronto Guide" as soon as you can.
It is available as a download @ http://www.prontowizard.com.

I use mine as a constant reference. It covers everything from absolute beginner (Step-by-step) as well as advanced teqniques. I do not know of any other source for reference that is available for the Pronto that makes it easy to understand.

You will not regret this small investment.

That's so funny. I just got home from work and started doing more research about the pronto 7000 and came across the prontowizard website. I was just looking at the add for the guide. I'm going to buy it today thanks to you. Thanks! I love this message board!

Ok, My next question is about the TV (Samsung HL-P5063W). For me to change from let's say DVD to Cable or PS2 I need to manually change the source on my TV. The original TV remote just has one button for source so to switch the TV from cable to PS2 I need to hit the source button 4 times and to turn it back I need to hit source once. Is there a way to have the source button broken into individual codes? I did program a macro to switch from cable to PS2 and another to switch from PS2 to cable but that way I'd need to make a lot of pronto buttons because if I did the same thing with let's say the DVD, the cable button I set up from the PS2 would not get me back to the right source. Hope this makes sense
