Wishing you all a very happy new year, after updating my prontos firmware last month (with the one on philips site dated april 2004) it has frozen. It wont allow me to calibrate it. I have tried to reset it, calibrate it with a fine tiup but nothing. Does anyone have the prontos previous firmware so i can try to install that back. I am at a dead end. I have even tried taking the batteries out for a few days hoping it would truly reset it self, but nothing. Kind regards

Check here [Link: remotecentral.com]

You may also want to try reflashing the current version. How long was it working after you upgraded? Or has this been going on for a month? I think some people have had success using the toothpick but a couple pixels away from the center point.

Good Luck

Try a search for reverting firmware. There is a process that someone used a while back about unplugging the pronto at a specific time, then you can put in any firmware you want. If all else fails search for 866 to get the number to do an exchange of your unit.

managed to install old firmware (pulled the plug whilst re-installing the new software, then ran the old software) but unfortunately my remote screen will still not calibrate. What did u mean by this "search for 866 to get the number to do an exchange of your unit"

Make sure when you calibrate you are using a pda stylus or CAREFULLY use the point of a pencil. You cannot use your finger. You must be quite precise.

If you use a pencil, be gentle on your screen.

Use the forum search feature and search for "866" one of the threads should have the toll free number to call philips. When you calibrate can you get past any of the points? Did you try moving a few pixels over?

Sometimes it takes a few goes to calibrate. You have to use a fine tip and position it very, very carefully.
