Help!!!

I've got an HP Media Center PC. For some reason my TSU3000 won't learn the codes from the HP remote directly. Or rather, more correctly, the codes it is learning don't work on the device. Anyways, long story short, I found a pcf in the files section with most of the codes I need, did a quick copy/paste, and I'm in business.

Being the detail oriented person I am, I'd really like to have all the codes that are available even if I'm never going to use the missing ones. In the process of finding the pcf containing the majority of the codes I need, I found a couple of files for the TSU7000. They had a couple more of the codes I need. I installed ProntoProEdit and opened the pcf for the 7000 and my current 3000 pcf, pasted the missing codes, saved the changes and exited ProntoProEdit. I then tried to open my 3000 pcf with ProntoEdit NG and it informs me that the file can't be opened by ProntoEdit NG. When I try to copy the IR codes directly from ProntoProEdit to ProntoEdit NG it tells me that the code is invalid and won't accept it.

Can I convert the 3000 pcf saved with ProntoProEdit back to the correct format? If not, can I convert the IR codes contained in the 7000 pcf to the correct format for the 3000? Can the non-working codes learned from the original HP remote be "fixed"? Any other ideas? The codes learned from the original HP remote are below.

If you opened your 3000 PCF in ProntoProEdit NG, the transparencies were converted to Upper Left Corner from Indexed transparency. If you saved over your older file, you are somewhat screwed. Please tell me you did NOT do this. There's a way but it's a lot of work manually unless Dave D'Arche has got his converter working.

For future reference, you should open 3000 files in ProntoEdit NG and 7000 files in ProntoProEdit NG. You can cut-n-paste IR code data between the 2 editors with no problems.

Lyndel,

Thanks for the reply. I think you've misunderstood my post. I DID save over my 3000 pcf after opening it in PPENG. I have a back-up of the original and can make as many copies as I want. I opened it in PPENG intentionally in order to try and get the few remaining IR codes that I didn't already have by copying them from a 7000 pcf (since you can't open a 7000 config in PENG).

When I try to copy/paste from PPENG to PENG (2.09) it tells me that the IR code is invalid. There is an obvious difference in IR format between the 7000 pcf files and the 3000 pcf files when viewed in their respective editors. The When the 3000 pcf is loaded into PPENG all the IR codes are converted to the 7000 IR format. Below is an example of the change in IR format when a 3000 pcf is converted with PPENG. The first is the IR from my original 3000 pcf as viewed with PENG and the second code is from the same button after the conversion by PPENG.

I just wanted to make sure you have a backup of your 3000 PCF.

From the codes you posted, the raw hex codes (those beginning with 0000) should be portable across any remote, including legacy prontos. It is the 7000's shortening/conversion of this code that prevents it from being used in other places as 616a is not a valid IR Data Type value on older remotes.

I think this is an RC6A code and I can't help you there. You might email John Fine (JohnsFine) for advice.

MCE uses codes with a toggle bit. The codes you've learned above will not toggle when sent from the Pronto. They'd have to be in a format for the Pronto to recognnise them as RC5 or RC6.

But, you can make a registry change on the MCE PC to allow it to accept non-toggling codes. This may correct the incompatibility of your learned codes.

Thanks Bruno,

I completely missed the HP Media Center tag in the first post.

If you turn off the Toggle Bit, there should be other CCFs in the Pronto Files Section for the HP Media Center PC that you can File->Import CCF and NOT have to learn any codes. You will however need to look at the link Bruno posted to see how to turn off the Toggle Codes.

Best O Luck. HNY

Thanks guys, however I've dealt with the toggle bit issue already. I've downloaded all the files that contain info on the MCE codes. Unfortunately all the ones that aren't for the 7000 are missing a couple of codes. I'm trying to find a way to convert the ones that I need from the 7000's IR format.
