I took a perfectly good pcf and made several modifications. Downloaded it into a 7000. And now the IR does not work on any device!!! Has anyone experienced this before and know what the problem is? If not, can anyone sugest an expedient way of troubleshooting the problem? I'm afraid I'll have to brute force it which could take a long time. Grrrrrrr
Before you ask the obvious, Yes, I did go back and load the original pcf and it still works, meaning that I don't have a hardware problem.

Are the devices set for IR or for RF? Do they use learned codes or DB Codes?
I don't know of any way other than to retrace your steps one device @ a time and retest.

I found the problem. This is a heads up.
Since I don't use any of the objects that appear on the SYSTEM PAGE, I deleted them all. This apparently causes the program to be unable to issue IR commands. Just putting back a system object (Menu command "Insert /System Item") did not fix the problem. I found that I had to start with a new file system page, and that I could eliminate everything except the battery display.
I wish I understood the XML code. If I did, I could probably figure out what is going on. If any of you who do understand the code can explain what happened, it would be good to know if there is an easier fix.

There is a known problem with deleting certain items from the system page. I don't think it was deternined exactly which item (or items) should not be deleted.

From what I can tell, you cannot delete anything from the Page Overview page or change the buttons to different sizes.
FYI, in the Remote Setup, I suspect that the Battery Icon, Time, Date, as well as the Bar at the top of the page are used. I suspect that removing any of these may cause problems but have not attempted it.
How do I know this? Once upon a time, I started a them that looked like Windows XP's standard display. I changed the background images on the Page Overview screen as well as the button colors (not their sizes). What I found was that the Page Overview page was indeed resulted in Tools->Setup when the user touches the 1/3 or 1/4 button.
I've complained about this to Philips but am not sure if they can or will address this. After all, the mode is not called 'Advanced' for nothing.
I just wish it were documented somewhere which items were used and where.
Based on my past experiences hacking PCF files, I think Mike's problem has something to do with the 'id' attributes of a 'Bitmap' in the XML file. I don't think Philips actually reuses items other than the Page Overview page but rather that the 'id's of the Battery Icon images must always be some specified value.

I just wish it were documented somewhere which items were used and where. Thanks, Lyndel. I can stae that if you delete everything except the battery icon, it will work. The lack of decent documentation for Pronto is something that drives everyone bonkers. All Philips would have to do is go throught this forum and address the issues raises in an online FAQ list. I can't imagine it would take more than a week to put together - assuming the author knows the answers. If they did that, the number of postings on this forum would drop by half or more.
