Hi guys,

Discrete?
I’ve tried all the Pronto build in Panasonic TV codes and whilst some of them show two separate commands (On & Off), they only operate as a toggle. So maybe my Panasonic TV TX-28PK2/E doesn’t have/support any discrete codes?

Hold-down?
One work-around that I’ve read is to use one of the number digits to turn the TV on. This sounds fine, but leads to my next issue; how do I simulate a button hold down?

Thanks in advance,
Simon

Sorry, no way with NG!

I tried that with my VCR'r from Panasonic (Nv 960) with different ways:
-Two cycle in one Hex with short burst pair at the end, which was repeated by macro
-One cycle with short burst pair at the end and repeated by macro.
I tried repeat and single hex - no way with tsu7000! The time between repeats with macro method is to long for Panasonic device - it interpreted that as single commands.

best regards

[Sorry, no way with NG!]

Which bit of my message are you refering to exactly? I'm sure a guru out there has a work around or the codes.

If you are totally stuck for the lack of discrete codes you can always build an Activity-Based config. Quite a bit more work but it is generally a great way to get there. It asks a question of the user " What do you want to do?" and "What is on Now?"

With these two questions, you an build a great config, even without discrete codes.

Check this please:

I mean it's impossible to simulate a long "hold down" with Pronto NG

[I mean it's impossible to simulate a long "hold down" with Pronto NG]

But I've seen people on here modify the IR codes to add repeats which in effect simulates a long press.

Thanks for the link, think I have already tried those, but will test them out....

Now tested the codes from the link, and neither work for me :(

Sometimes it is possible to modify the code to work. The best thing is to post one or two examples of your problem codes and perhaps someone can help.

These are the codes I would like to use as discrete on and off. Both work fine from within ProntoNG "Test IR Code", but not in a macro. I've tried adding a 0.1 second delay before the command but still doesn't work. Just need the commands to be sent for a longer period of time.

ON command:

0000 0070 0000 0032 0081 0040 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0AAB

OFF command:

0000 0070 0000 0032 0081 0040 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0AAB

not sure if there is a discrete code for on as my Panasonic tv will only turn on with a brief hold of the channel numbers. even the original remote will not toggle the tv to turn on if it is in standby. what is wrong with holding the channel you want it to be on for a second?

Iain,
that's perfectly fine, if you have all the buttons you need on one panel and can access them one by one - turn TV on... turn DVD on.... turn amp on... etc..etc
But one of the main advantages of the Pronto series are the macros and THAT's where long button presses do not work anymore.

Hi all,

I can t explain why my discret OFF codes works with the new pronto but not the ON code:
Here is the off code which works fine:

0000 0070 0064 0000 007F 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0AAA 007F 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0041

In my old RU890 the following ON code works fine:
0000 0070 00fa 0000 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ac3 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ac3 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ac3 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ac3 0080 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ac3

After importing that code in Pronto Pro NG it is much shorter, looks very different and does not work :-( :
0000 0070 0000 0032 007F 0041 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0AAA

or like this after learning the code with pronto pro NG from pronto RU890;

0000 006F 0000 0032 0081 0042 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0031 0010 0AC6

Is there any guru out there who can explain that or better: give a solution???

Thanks so much!!

You can create a macro that acts as a ON swith by using the discreet off then a delay and then the toggle. Works every time.

Well, yes, Jordan, but if you want to construct a ccf where choosing any video input turns the TV on, then you will have a DUMB ccf!

I first ran across this with a plasma about six months ago. When I make ccfs, the home page is made to work from the system off or on, so each input selection turns on the system. If the only way to turn on a Panasonic is to turn it off discretely, then hit power, then you have to turn the plasma off and on every time you switch video inputs! I actually tried this, dumb as it was, and ran into another problem: the plasma would not respond to input commands for several seconds after being turned (back) on.

I bet the power supply does not like being turned on and off several times a day, what do you think?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Jordan, thanks for that idea but i agree with ernie that it is not a very good workaround to turn off/on the tv every time i activate the TV macro. :-((
it is very annoying that formerly working codes do not work anymore with the newer pronto.... are there any tools which migrate the codes in a better way?
