I've had a TSU2000 for a few years now and I'm looking to upgrade to either the TSU3000 or the TSU7000. I currently use the X-10 Powermid to control my equipment located in a hallway closet. It works ok when my batteries are fully charged, but I wouldn't mind getting rid of the transmitter (it's in plain site, of course).

I've seen in this forum that the RXF-6000 is pretty tempermental. Has anyone had good experiences with it? Could I eliminate the RXF-6000 altogether and send RF signals to my Powermid receiver?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi Carl,

I went a different direction and it is a great solution, although a bit more costly. I went with an IR Repeater system from Speaker Craft. This way you do not have to mess with RF at all, unless you repeater is really far away. It includes a control unit, ac power supply, a nice small IR Receiver with feedback led and 2 high power IR emitters, one in each cabinet and they bathe the entire cabinet with IR, so all units get the IR. No stick ons, etc. I think it was about $200 but it works perfectly and the receiver is very sensitive. You can point anywhere in the room and get a signal to the IR receiver.

I and others have posted on this before, you can do a search. Apparently there are problems with the extender and the tsu 3000.

But for the tsu7000: It works from any room inside a concrete house. it works outside from 50-75 feet away. You can control your music while enjoying the outdoors. And as many know here, I control everything on x-10: sprinklers, fountains, waterfalls, low-voltage lighting, outdoor scenes are the best.

Please note this is since the last PPENG and firmware updates that just took place a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for your replies!

Dave ... that's a possibility ... I could mount the ir receiver in the wall and run the the cable to the closet. The problem I've had with my current setup is that my TSU2000 gets weak when not fully charged ... so I have to lean towards the Powermid transmitter for it to receive the signal. So far it works well with the stick ons. I have some kind (I don't remember) block connected to the Powermid receiver that has 8 ir blasters. By the way ... I really benefitted from your ccf files in the past -- you inspired me to go with an activity based ccf. I also learned a bit from www.barenada.com -- the site no longer contains pronto info :(.

augusty ... good to know re the TSU7000 signal. I am leaning towards the TSU7000. Do you need the extender to work with the TSU7000? Or, can the 7000 send the signals to a Powermid receiver?
