I know this is a long shot...
I downloaded Dan's remote setup (great job Dan!) and was surprised to find out that the descrete codes of video 1-6 work on my Wega no more scrolling through them (YAY!).
I am just one command away from a macro to set my TV to DVD viewing mode: Is there a way to just set it to 16:9 mode without going through the menu.
Anyone know of a code?
Thanks in advanced and happy holidays!

Check the discrete codes section here. [Link: remotecentral.com] note there are two pages with sony tv codes. For info on how to use them see the FAQs.

Anyone know if these will work with a 36XBR400?
I tried Dan's setups but it just makes the screen blank.

Thanks for the assist JCL.
I've tried those too..
They make my TV blank for a second but it doesn't change mode.
Only problem with what is otherwise a terrific set.
It's a pain to go through the menu every time a feature on a DVD is in full or wide screen.

I had the same problem on my Sony KV-EH36M31. A discrete code for the 16:9 wide toggle button is the only code in my whole PCF that is missing and believe me I've looked everywhere for it. Cerainly on my Sony (and many others) that button is a TOAD.
You could use a macro but I found it easier and far more reliable to add the TV's wide toggle button to my DVD control page (I put it on a hard button) and operate it from there manually once the I've moved to DVD viewing mode.

Thanks King,
Ya I could macro...but that blanking makes me think that it is noticing the command and we're just off by something to get it to activate.
Wish there was some way to get ahold of a Sony engineer or anyone that knows Sony remote codes.
Tech support barely knows what a remote is and can only quote what's in the user's manual. The Service guide of the TV doesn't even mention the remote and codes except to get into service mode.
It's weird, every other feature in menu has a direct button. I don't know why 16:9 mode (probably it's most inportant feature at the time) isn't included.

A number of Sony devices recognize some codes but don't do the correct thing. For instance, I had a Sony DVD player where sending "Power Off" would turn it off... and then back on again. "Power On" wouldn't do anything, unless it was already on, where the word "Play" would flash on the screen, but it wouldn't actually do anything.
It did, however, work properly with the generic "System Off" code.
