not sure if this would work, so i thought i'd ask before i bought some 3.5mm ended wires. my directivo (hrd10-250) has 3.5mm ir and serial inputs. i'm assuming that the ir inputs are for incoming irnfrared signals. i would like to connect an output from the RFX-6000 directly to the tivo (and other components that have these inputs) and get rid of the "stick-on" ir flashers. the stick-on's keep falling off. i took and spliced two male ended wires together, but it didn't work. not sure if i did it right though. will this work with a certain cable? thanks!

jme,

I think those are IR and serial outputs used to control other equipment. I don't know if they do anything on this box but on stand alone Tivos they were used to control the external cable/satellite receiver. I think you are stuck with the stick on emitters. No pun intended.

oh yeah...thanks jcl!! i used to have a stand alone that i used the output to hook up to a directv receiver. it had a phone line like plug on one end (not ethernet, but an actual phone line plug) and a 3.5mm on the other. oh well...what is a good emitter that won't fall off? i'm assuming the xantech considering i've seen posts on xantech stuff all around here.

Pretty much any of them will eventually fall off, escpecially if the equipment gets hot. My company uses Xantech emitters and they have been pretty good.

I use the next rev of the Xantech, which is SpeakerCraft. They have a high-power emitter available which washes an entire cabinet in IR. I have one in each cabinet and they work well. They are mounted at the top, inside of the cabinet. No more stick-ons for me!
