In anticipation of the arrival of a new TSU3000, I have been building a new pcf file from one of my existing TSU 2000 ccf files. Everything in the Pronto Edit I recently downloaded (Ver. 2, 0, 9, 0; Baseline PENG_V2.0.9.0_W426.3) works fine, except for a problem with the editor recognizing most, but not all, Yamaha RX-V1300 codes (no problem with codes from other manufacturers). For instance, the discrete power on in the ccf file is:

"0000 006b 0022 0002 0154 00b5 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0042 0016 0608 0154 0056 0016 0e90"

Either copying that power on code from the ccf editor and pasting into the pcf editor or importing the ccf file directly into the pcf editor results in what appears to be a corrupt code. The editor stores the following in the pcf file:

"900A 006D 0000 0001 7A85 1DE2"

All of the Yamaha codes in the ccf file are the same format as the power on code above. As a check, I downloaded some pcf files which contained "similar" Yamaha receiver devices. Once again the editor displayed "corrupt" codes. However, after downloading and opening David Darche's "DD PCF 031003.pcf" file and the following was stored as the power on code (I believe that this is from an RX-V3300):

"0000 006B 0046 0000 015D 00AE 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 060B 015D 00AE 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 060B 015D 0057 0015 00AE"

That code is stored properly in the pcf file.

I've done some searching the the NG Forum files and found hits on "Yamaha," "code," "corrupt," etc., but I haven't found this specific problem discussed in the forum (could be I'm just a bad reader). Also, needless to say, I haven't loaded the firmware update yet, because I don't yet have the TSU3000. Ditto with learning the codes from the Yamaha remote.

I'd appreciate any help on this. thanks.

Hey Berle,

I have many discrete Yamaha codes in my 3000 config. It is for the Rx-V3300 but I suspect you can use the basic ones, like on, off etc.

I have sent a copy of my older 3000 .pcf to your email

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the quick reply and the pcf file. Sorry to say that I have the same problem with your pcf file, for instance the power on from the "old rec ir" page is

"900A 006D 0000 0001 7A85 1DE2"

while the effect on/off code is

"0000 006D 0028 0000 0155 00AA 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 0015 0016 003F 0016 05EB 0155 0054 0016 0E55 0155 0054 0016 0E55 0155 0054 0016 00AA"

Most of the other codes are somewhere in between these two.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled peng, but it didn't help. I would really like to use the codes from the old ccf file. It took a long time to learn a complete set of "clean" codes for the specific functions of my RX-V1300 (learning codes from a Yamaha remote is much harder than most other makes).

Converting the code to a 900A code is the intended behaviour. PENG has added a shorthand way of describing very common codes. This saves memory.

Hey Berle,

The "old rec ir" goes back to my older HTRXXXX Yamaha, FYI. The other Ir Code panels are for the Rx-V3300. One other fix is possible.

I was also having difficulties with Power On/Off at one point. I think it was when I went to the 3000 a few years ago. I think I resorted to using one of the codes in the built-in database and it worked ok. I rarely use the DB but I was stuck and couldn't seem to get the learning to produce a good code.

Might be a workaround for you. One bad features of the built-in codes in the DB, is they will not allow you to see the actual hex.

Otherwise, here are the codes currently in my 7000, for the Rx-V3300

ON
0000 006A 0046 0000 015C 00AF 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 060A 015C 00AF 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 060A 015C 0057 0015 00AF

OFF
900A 0068 0000 0001 7A85 1EE1

Wierd they are so different, but they work!

If you end up with 900x codes, consider yourself lucky. These are nice clean codes.
