I am trying to configure my RU950 pronto to work with X10 directly with the RF that pronto uses. I understand the European version is the same frequency as the TM13 but I am unable to find the codes. Dave Houston's codegen would be useful here but his site seems to be down. Does anyone have configeration I can use or know where i can get one for basic X10 controls?

I have the X10 pages in my config. Email me and I'll send you a zipped version. You'll need an X10 IR to RF receiver. Simply put, it's a box with an IR Receiver that plugs into the wall. It receives the IR comands and converts them to line level RF that your X10 system responds to. I've been using mine for about a year and am very happy with it.

Ted missed the point of his question entirely.

I believe he's asking for X10 codes so his pronto can send out X10 RF signals. Not possible. I'm replying that I can provide the X10 IR codes, and he'll require a plug in X10 IR to RF converter. Works like a charm for me.

Ted, a couple of points:
- he wants to use RF directly from his Pronto and avoid using an IR to X10 controller; this can be done in Europe with a 950
- you mention a "plug in X10 IR to RF convert"er; you mean an "IR to X10 converter"

Yes. I was saying an X10 compatible IR to RF converter. Didn't you read my mind and understand what I meant since it wasn't clearly stated :-). The IR comands are also X10, so I was really trying to say and IR to RF converter for X10 comands. One that receives the IR comand, converts it to X10 compatible RF and sends transmits it through household wiring. Here's the link to the device I have to which I was referring: [Link: smarthome.com]

It is not IR to X10 compatible RF. It is simply IR to X10.
[I know that technically X10 is radio frequency, but as has been discussed here before, it is generally not considered RF]

The RU950 does send RF commands to the TM13 without the need for any IR-RF convertor. I asked several times on this forum [Link: remotecentral.com] for the codes but never got the reply i wanted. In the end I had to purchase them in a preconfigured .CFG file containing the codes from Simplyautomate and it works a treat. Seeing as its Christmas, I might just email you the codes ;-) This message was edited by IndianaJones on 12/22/04 14:42 ET.

Indiana, I wil purchase a TSU3000 in USA (less $$$ than RU950) for use at home in Holland (Europe). I also like to use it directly for my X-10 home automation (approx 12 wall appliances). So, if you can e-mail me the codes I would higly appreciate. [email protected]Thanks and happy X-mas, Peter

You cannot use a 3000 to control X-10 uwing RF directly. The 950 is the only model that uses the same RF fequency as X10 controllers. If you have the 3000, you need to use an IR to X10 controller.

Hi Peter, You seem very skilled in this area so I wonder if I might ask you the following. I'm just on my way to buy my first X-10 equipment (light controllers and PC interface to start of with) but only want to use 1 remote for lights AND TV (together with my PC). Do you mean that there is only Philips (European version) Pronto RU950 that has the same frequency that normal X-10? Wouldn't there be any more suppliers that has understood to create remotes with this possibility? They all need converters (including the other Pronto remotes from Philips)? //dan

All you need is any Pronto to control X10 using IR. Use a standard IR to X10 controller such as the IR543 or the IR543AH.

Thanks Peter, I'm with you on that but if I don't want to pay for a controller would then Pronto RU950 be the only one that can run the correct frequency directly? //dan

As IndianaJones above says this is what I am after, SimplyAutomate seem to sell the solution but only by post, very dull, if your offer is still on please do email me the codes at [email protected]
