Again thanks to all who have helped my get this thing up and running.

I have conquered the plasma emi's and electronic interferences with my x-10 systems.
(so, far, but more usage of the home will probably crop up new interferences)

I have elimenated the toggle switch on the tv.

I have gotten the cameras at the gates to work.
(it would really be cool to send the image to the pronto!?!?)

The entire system is controlled with the rfx6000 from more than 50 feet away through solid concrete walls and metal and glass doors.

I have customized the system's page and icons and created easy to use access to the settings and tools area with an entrance and exit! (Although, somewhat complicated to the true idiot looking for an easier way out - Philips should let us select this icon - it could be a door, the word exit anything but a small remote with a wrench in it!)

Anyway I had to throw in my last two cents worth. If any of you want to see it, I have posted it to my web page, that is until RC posts it here.

Again thanks to all this @#$% little remote has really changed my life!

Yes, that's generally the feeling (was for me): swear, curse and then little by little enjoy.

if it is a web cam or you can set it up as a web site , you could get the iPronto and have that :-)

glad you are up and running

All you have to do is add a button to your System Page with the images of your choice and set the Special Action to Tools. It will behave in exactly the same way as this icon.

Glad you are finally up and running.

Yes, you can do that , but when you are in the systems environment: timers, learn, settings, ir/rf, etc. there will always be an icon of a little remote with a wrench in it as the only way to exit the settings/tools area.

Would you please tell me how an icon with a wrench in the middle should denote the exit out of this area back to the Pronto?

If it can be changed, simply, then please let us know.

well you can cover things up so something that is a system icon can be covered with something on the specific page. I think some people used that idea to "move" stuff like battery icons or signal sending on specific pages

Augusty,

Most replies you got address how to change the Tools icon. But once you're in the Tools (or settings) pages, AFTER pressing whatever icon represents the Tools icon, those subsequent pages are not customizable, because they are simply not "externalized". There is no mention of them in the XML file part of your PCF since they are managed directly in the firmware code.

This I undestand, that is why I created the following page to show the user how to get out:

I have not manually changed the xml file - I still have not figured out how to get in there to do anything.

I personally know how to exit that area of the pronto. But what about a house guest or a clients house guest, that could get lost in that part of the menu structure.

I had gotten a call at midnight, because my client was, at that point so fed up with the entire system. He could not get off of those pages.

is there anything in tools that a user will need. The best thing might be to just get rid of it.

It reminds of something that happened to me once. I had created a CCF and forgot to get rid of the mode menu at an install once. An end user had pressed it and then pressed delete and started deleting buttons by mistake. I had to send the CCF to the person in charge of the room to get it installed again.

Timers, if Philips supplies an upgrade to this area, with a macro, I could put all my x10 stuff here. With the rfx6000 receiving the signal and trasferring it to an x10 powerline device could eliminate the need for any of the enept x10 products on the market today that are trying to do the same thing.
