Lyndel -

Thanks for the education -- this thread has been great for me!

And now, to give back (what little I can as a newbie) for whoever's reading -- I did some gruntwork this afternoon with the Extended Code page from the Yamaha web site for the RX-V2400 and 1400 and my OEM 2400 remote and learned that "Hall A" is the Munich Hall discrete; "Hall E" is the Vienna Hall discrete; "The Bottom Line" entry is the jazz button on the OEM remote; "The Roxy Theater" entry is the rock button on the OEM remote; the Dolby/DTS button on the OEM remote cycles through the entries for normal, enhanced, PLII Movie, PLII Music, NEO:6 Movie and NEO:6 Music; the TV Thtr button matches up to the entry for Mono Movie; the Music button matches up to the entry for Pop/Rock; the Movie button cycles through the entries for Spectacle, Sci-Fi, Adventure and General. All of the remote buttons I'm referring to are from the RX-V2400 remote -- I don't know if the RX-V1400 is a duplicate or not.

Hi all,

Have anyone find hex for bass and treble control for the main zone? I use a Yamaha RXV-2400 RDS (German model) with Zone2/Zone3 that I heaved build in with original parts from Yamaha. I have tested some 7A and 7E codes - no sucsess, so I made a directaccess Marco in my PCF for each EQ band as solution. (YAST is not active, I thing that is unusable in my living room)

Best Regards

Easier way??? Novice way???

Go to Yamaha's website and download the RAVedit software and the EXTENED IR PDF file for the device you want.

Create a new configuration in RAVedit with a blank button. Go to properties for this button and select SET IR then ADVANCED. A Yamaha code window will open.

Type in the Yamaha code from the PDF you downloaded. Select OK, then select VIEW IR.

You should now see the HEX code for the Yamha code.

CUT/COPY then paste in Hex code into your PRONTOedit configuration.

Am I wrong again? Arn't the extended codes the discreet codes?

I went to the Glossery and this is what I found:

What are discrete codes?
They are versions of toggle codes that only perform one function. For instance, a "POWER" button on a remote would be a toggle, in that when it is used the current power state is reversed. If your device is on, it turns off. If it's off, it turns on. A "discrete" code would be a signal that ONLY turns the device on. If it is already on it remains so. These are most often used to ensure your home theater components stay completely in sync for powering on and off and changing inputs.

As I understand it, the extended codes in the Yamaha pdf are discrete codes -- but they're not in the format the Pronto needs to use them. You need to convert the 7A and 7E type codes you see in the pdf to hexidecimal (or hex) format for the Pronto. All the messages above have covered how to do that, in several different ways. Of course, YMMV -- as I found the RAVEdit program (mentioned right above) this morning to be sort of spotty. Some translated hex codes worked, others didn't. I need to sit down and do some troubleshooting.

Not all Extended codes are truly discrete. For example, the Menu/Parameter codes control the cursor but may operate in different ways depending on which display mode you are in.

However, the Surround Fields are 100% discrete. For example, on my receiver, if I press keypad 5, it cycles between 5 Ch Stereo, Game, and TV Sports. However, there are discretes for each of these in the Extended IR codes.
