Daniel: A 'Take Off' dude from the Great White North. Never met him in person but I get the strong distinct impression, he's a really great guy. Hey, it's not like I haven't been at every CEDIA and CES show over the past few years... just ask Mike @ Surf Remote, we tend to bump into each other about 10-20 times over a single show. Just can't get rid of the guy! :-) Should tell you guys about a really embarrasing time at one of the Home Theater Master training courses when the speaker (one Eric Johnson) noticed me in the crowd...

The U in TSU stands for Universal.
The first was the TS1000, then the TSU2000, because they added the Universal database.

It also annoys me when people refer to the original remote that came with a device as the OEM remote.
Am OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) is a person or company that makes hardware from components from other companies. In the 70s and 80s there were companies that built purpose specific computers using boards sourced from companies such as Digital Equipment or HP. These companies were called OEMs, and companies like Digital had an OEM division specifically to provide hardware to the OEMs.
Today, your corner computer shops build PCs using compnents that come from manufacturers like Intel. The components they use (such as video cards) don't come in fancy packages with instructional videos etc They just come in plain anti-static bags. Components bought this way are known as OEM versions of the products (as opposed to the Full Packaged version which costs more). It is called the OEM version because the PC shop is an OEM.
So how is the original remote that came a device supposed to be an OEM remote? Beats me.
