I have gone through 2 of the new HL-P6163W Samsung DLPs and both of them have a problem with the Power ON and OFF codes. The codes will work a few times and then the weirdest thing happens, the codes stop working. When it locks up you have to use the the Toggle Power Code either from a Pronto or from the DLP's remote.

Does anybody know about this problem, and if so how to fix it?

Have ya talked to Samsung tech support? More than likely, this is a firmware bug in the TV.

Just to let everyone know, there is a known problem with the discrete ON and OFF with the new HLP-6163W. After you press the ON or OFF a few times, the ON and OFF will no longer work. The only way to make it work is to press the TOGGLE POWER button.

As of 11/18/2004, Samsung Tech Support is aware of the problem and there engineers are working to solve the issue.

Guess I won't be buying a new Samsung DLP HLP-6163W just yet.

a.k.a. Santa will bring me a lump of coal.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hi guys. I have the Samsung HLP-4663W, and so far (knock wood), I haven't had the problem you're reporting with the 61" version of my set.

As a side note - Lyndel - you should wait for the xx74W models - they're going to be a bit nicer than the 63's. I just couldn't wait to get it...

Anyway, I'll definitely let you know if I see an issue. Thanks for the info!

To ease everyone's mind that has the 46" and 56", I have had no problems with any of those two DLPs. I have probably programmed 10 of each display. The only two 61" DLPs that I have programmed had this problem.

Sorry for the huge bump, but I have some relevant input. I just tried programming a Pronto NG to control an HL-P4663 today with discrete codes. After almost two very frustrating hours, I had to give up on discrete codes. If a workaround has been found, I'd love to know - it would greatly simplify operation for this customer. Thanks.

Since this is a different model, it deserves a new thread!!! You might also consider the Discrete Hunter Thread as well.

Sorry. I figured it was OK since the 4663 was mentioned in the post above mine.
