I currently have 2 RF extenders, the 6000 models. Included with each extender were 4 dual IR emitter cables allowing native support for 8 devices. Presenty I'm running IR emitters to 14 devices. I do actually have the capability to run all 14 devices off my first extender. When purchasing my 4th DVD changer however, I needed to be able to send it's IR codes via my Pronto over a different RF ID so as to not also be operating my 2nd DVD changer at the same time which uses the same IR codeset. This is where the 2nd extender comes in set to Channel 0 ID 1, versus my first extender set to Channel 0 ID 0. Looking at my PCF you'll notice that I've included the RF ID in the name of each IR code device. This is a quick and easy way for me to keep track of which RF extender each of my devices is running off of without having to access the RF tab for each device.

There are some great ideas in this thread that I can't wait to try out. I just bought the Sony DVPCX995V player this weekend and I found out in a hurry why people are so disgusted with the Auto-Play function when turning it on. What a pain in the butt! I did find a work-around that saves some time. I created a macro which turns on the power and then 10 seconds later opens the door. That forces the player to stop its initialization sequence and I can then choose whatever disc I want to play. A lot quicker than waiting for the disc to finish playing all the manufacturers' First Play advertising.

The manual for the player had me nearly ready to return it to the dealer. What a piece of junk. I couldn't find any information on how to select a specific disc without using the Disc Explorer and it didn't take me long to figure out that I don't want to use that.

Anyway, now that I have those things figured out I'll be able to select the DVD I want to play by clicking on the appropriate icon. Pronto TSU-7000 to the rescue. What a beautiful thing the Pronto is. Without it I would have taken the Sony player back to the dealer.

As my TSU9600 DVD Juke XCF is nearing completion I decided to take some time today and get my PCF up to speed. For more details and to download hit up the link in my signature area below.

Hi Lp,

I see where you added to new functions to your Motorola DCT6412 III Dual-tuner HD DVR. Could you tell me what purpose they serve when their button is pressed? I have a general idea, but I looked in my reference guide and couldn't find anything on "30 second Skip" and "Swap".

Thanks.

Sure wjjz. Explanations are given below. Enjoy!

30 second Skip:
When watching something you've recorded the 30 second skip function allows you to skip ahead 30 seconds with each button press. This makes fast forwarding through commercials a breeze. If you've advanced too far the back arrow on-screen button takes you back a few seconds.

Swap:
The swap function allows you to swap between the tuners of the DCT-6412 of which there are two. This comes in very handy when the tuner you have selected is actively recording something. If you want to change the channel without interrupting your recording you need to hit up the "Swap" function which moves you over to the other tuner, otherwise you're prompted with the choices to stop the recording and change the channel or continue the recording and not change the channel.

Thank you for the detailed explanations. I use the dual-tuner HD DVR quite often (so much easier to record compared to those days of VHS), and those two new functions will come in handy. It's off to the laboratory to install the new codes in my *.pcf-stein. :-)

This looks fabulous. When I attempted to run this in ProntoEdit NG for the 3000, it wouldn't run ("The CF version is not correct or the memory is corrupt" in simulator). You note the newest firmware is required. Is there any recommendation on how to running this with a 3000? Thanks!

Due to the size of my PCF it will not load in PENG's simulator. Many of the images in my PCF also use PNG transparencies which is not supported by PENG. As such, my recommendation is to download and install the latest version of PPENG for the TSU7x00 (which can run alongside PENG), so that you can check out my PCF in PPENG's Simulator. If you'd like to download my PCF to your TSU3000 you'll have to hack the file down in PENG to a large degree before it's small enough to download to your remote.

Motorola 6400 series DVR's support the 30 second skip function which can be accessed by reprogramming one of the buttons on the original remote. I just never took the time until recently to reprogram the original remote for this function, then learning it to my Pronto. Doing a simple search online will bring up a slew of hits on how to do this such as the one here.

Lowpro, thanks for the help. I'd guess if I were to go to a text-based display for covers, rather than graphic display, that the PCF would load into the 3000. Perhaps I'll try that. If you know right away that this wouldn't likely work, that would be good to know before I modify. Since there are a lot of threads here, if I do use it, should I make a donation (or payment) to you and/or someone else?

The first version of my PCF was in fact for a TSU3000. The file originally supported 3 DVD changers and contained 885 DVD covers, included many full page graphics for my DVD box sets. It also included support for all of the other devices which make up my home theater. This left me with very little free memory however, so I returned my TSU3000 for a TSU7000 which I used for several years eventually upgrading to a TSU7500. I've since moved on to the TSU9600. That being said, going with DVD covers may be quite feasible depending on the size of your DVD collection now and in the future. Then again, it may not be. Going text based would certainly lift the memory constraints for you and perhaps make things easier on the eyes in so far as the clarity of text based buttons over DVD cover images on the TSU3000. Either which way, the device in my PCF used to automate disc selection is certainly something you should take advantage of as it will save you many hours of programming, irrespective of whether you end up going with DVD covers or text buttons. As for whether or not to make a donation and to whom, I'll leave that one up to you. While certainly not required, donations are always appreciated.

Lp,

Are my eyes decieving me or did you add a fifth member to your DVD Changer family? If you did, you are beyond professional counselling (not that you weren't already). :-p

I shouldn't talk, I just recently added a third to "DL's Home Theater". I'm anticipating the arrival of No. 801 sometime by the end of the year. I stayed with what I know works best - another "DVP-CX985V". Nice transaction through e-Bay.

Carry on!

I did add a 5th changer to my setup recently. Found a DVP-CX985V on Craigslist from someone local here in Maryland for $150. Couldn't pass it up. With only 70 slots left in my 4th changer I figured I might as well get it over with an add the additional changer.

While I won't be updating my TSU7500 PCF for the 5th changer I did update my TSU9600 XCF. Below is a shot of the "Direct Changer Access (DCA)" page from my TSU9600 XCF file.

Came in quite handy having 5 firm keys below the screen. To browse backward if needed I just hit up the power button or activity based icon in the top left corner, both of which I use as home buttons and at times for browsing backwards.
