Hello all… I am installing a bose system along with a pronto I hope. But I dought it will work. This is the situation I am using the bose system for audio since the customer wanted the speakers taken off of the Sony Plasma and for dvd. Also with the bose system is a second zone. Now my question is. If I use a pronto and use the rf, then will it control the bose? My feeling probably not being that the house code is not on the pronto RF. Then I can change it to receive IR but then that will shut off the ir on the second zone? Answer: YES? I was also thinking ok everything but the bose and use the bose only for the dvd but then the prob comes with the audio still need the two remotes. Is this the way I have to go? Any input would be great. I told the customer we would run into this problem and he didn’t not care at the time. So now he has 10 remotes and is pissed!!
SO what does one do in this situation?
Thanks again, Lonny

The first question is what bose. Some can be switched to IR and for some others there is an IR to Bose RF device. If it falls in one of those camps then the Pronto can work with it. The next thing is that IR is local, but you could get the RF base and switch the Pronto to RF.

The newer Bose systems will work with IR. If you check the owners manual there is a section on creating these codes from the system. Also, there are several setups for Bose systems available from this site.

Anthony, IT is a system 35, which can be set to Ir. And i wouldn't be able to use the pronto RF as it is a different frequency. I only need the RF for t he second zone as a cabinet is being made which is allowing all the equipment to be scene.
Thanks for your input, Lonny

I think I understand what you mean now, you want RF so that you can use the original remote from a different room. Is that it? An answer might be to get a cheap learning RF remote for the other room. I think OFA has some RF remotes

Lonny,
I have been controlling my Bose 35 system from my ProntoPro 6000 with no difficulties since the 35 system came out. The Pronto 7000 works well too in this respect but I'm really not using it much until the memory expansion is available since the 6000 is just as good till then. See the 6000 files section for my Bose CCF.
I'm not using Zone 2 since November in the new house but I used it before. At that time according to Pronto it could not be used for zone 2 audio control but I still used the pronto in zone 2 to control all of the components in zone 1 via the RF Extender. I used the Zone 2 Bose remote only for audio in zone 2.
Hope this helps.

If you go to the files section of this group, there is a CCF file for the Bose Lifestyle 35 System. Look under Bose in the CCF files. There is one that contains both zone 1 and zone 2 in IR format.
