Can any one help me, does anyone know how to create a long pulse to dim my remote light swicth (IR). I can only get it to go on or off with a short pulse.

Please help.

This is a Pronto classic, and it depends on a couple of things; 1)your Pronto does not insert delays between steps of a macro and 2)your controlled device actually recognizes this workaround.

1)there have been threads about this. I understand that under some conditions, maybe out of the box, the remote adds delays. This will kill the following idea.

2)has been known to work for many devices. Not for all.

When you hold the remote light switch down for a period of time, the remote puts out an initial string of data followed by a repeating string...that repeats until you quit. Make a macro thus:
a)learn the command the normal way. This is the initial string.

b)learn the repeating part. Before you touch the Pronto button that you want to teach to, push and hold the light switch button, and cover its emitter with your hand. Then push the pronto button that you want to learn to and uncover the light switch's LED. The Pronto will only see the repeating part of the command and will learn that.

Make a macro of one part (a) followed by as many (b) as needed to make this work. I first did this with a JVC projector that needed two seconds, and eleven repeats of (B) gave me a solid command.

Kudos to Daniel Tonks, who pointed out that this is even somewhere in the regular Pronto FAQs. I type it here because that is easier for me than looking it up.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
