I am thinking about buying a TSU3000, but read all these reviews from people that said they weren't a 100% happy but sticked with the remote as they believed firmware updates fixed their issues. Did it do this for you and what is fixed???

Yes, the latest firmware and editor updates have pretty well fixed all of my problems with the remote. I am now a happy camper, but I wish I had waited a year, since I bought one as soon as it was released.
It is now pretty much as useful as the old 1000/2000 series and would recommend it.

I had to wait 4 months before having this new firmware witch will correct many many bugs. So i was happy when this new firmware was available (1st April 2004) !!! But this new firmware is HORRIBLE !! Now only 3 on 7 devices are remoted by my pronto, and it reboot every time when the batteries is older than 2 days (TSU3000) and Philips reply to me Wait again perhaps we corrects theses (news knowed) bugs but we don't know when. Now it is impossible to go back to the oldier (but better) firmware and i don't use this very expansive remote. If i have the choice to buy again a remote NEVER A PRONTO !!

You can go back to the earlier firmware. Try searching this forum. Someone posted an easy method about a week ago.

I am very happy with it now. The new firmawre solved most of the gripes that were floating around here. Most users will be happy as well. From what I gather from the current posts there are still big issues with RF and a handful of components won't work with it. These are major issues but are more of a problem for very high-end users than most people. Almost all mainstream gear seems to be fine with the 3000. Although the battery life is better than before, it still SUCKS!!! Do not even think about getting it without the docking station. You will pay for it in batteries in 6 months.

Battery issue is not a problem with the docking station. I can go around 1 month before putting my remote on the charger and I use the remote everyday. The battery time has increased tons since last firmware.
The latest firmware is really good, this is the firmware that should have been in the remote from the beginning.

This latest version has 'broken' my Pronto RU950. [Link: remotecentral.com]This command worked fine before v3.1.15. Simon
