I bought a new model 7000 from B&H Photo and received it late this week. Today I began working with it. Had some problems with error message stating that it was not connected to the computer--this occurred when I tried to upload file from PENG.
I followed suggestions in forum and reset pronto. The unit now after reset will work only as long as I keep pressing buttons to keep it from normally turning off. Once its screen goes dark,it will not light again and unit will not work until another reset. I have tried taking out battery, have made sure unit is fully charged.
I presume I have a defective unit but wonder if users have any suggestions before I ask B&H to take unit back.
Many thanks, Gary.

Additional tests on unit. Held down reset key, while unit was rebooting managed to download default CCF file. Now unit works again. The PCF file that I earlier downloaded was made by importing a tsu6000 file and saving it and then spending more than 12hours today rearranging all screens and buttons, replacing buttons, etc. Version 1 of my PCF file worked fine briefly. When I tried to download a revised version with most of the 12 hours work, the problems began. Could a PCF file cause the unit to go totally dead. It would not restard when button pressed (LCD and hard). Not much use if I can only have the default PCF file. My tsu 600o is a much more reliable unit, never locked up. Gary.

Final update. Pressed reset button and immediately told PENG to download into the pronto a copy of the default file that it came with--no changes by me at all. download was successful, unit worked for a few minutes, responding to presses of LCD after it turned off, and then went dead again. So my modified file is not at fault since the unit malfunctions with the original default unmodified Philips supplied file in it. The problem is not due apparently to my PCF fifle.
For so much money I wish Philips made a more reliable product.

Well, before packing up the unit I tried replacing the firmware with firmware from philips site. Although my unit came with the most curret firmware, possibly something was wrong with the firmware. Problem has disappeared, and I have several times called unit back to life by taping on touch screen and am continuing to develop my configuration file.
When all else fails, try replacing the firmware. Gary.
