Hello,

I'm looking at buying the TSU3000 for a conference room at work and would like to have some input from those "in-the-know" about these units.

My potential setup includes:

Sony SLV-D500P (dvd/vcr unit)
Sony STR-DE695 receiver
Optoma EXPro 755 Projector.
InFocus WiFi adapter for projector.

The projector would be mounted on the ceiling in the middle of the room, while the AV stuff would probably be somewhere in the front close to the podium/desk.

I would like to know if anyone has any experience with getting these things to talk to Optoma projectors and/or either of the Sony pieces above.

I'm under teh assumption that I would need the RFX6000 extender since the projector wouldn't be in the same general vicinity of the AV stuff.

My use for the remote would really be limited to (initially) macros so that people can come in and for example turn on the dvd/vcr player, select dvd or vcr (if applicable?) then turn on the projector and set it to the correct input, or something along those lines... my point would be to make it so the person using it would have a minimum amount of button pushing to do.

Additionally, does this remote in any way sense whether a device is already on? as in creating macros to turn something on if its not on already, but not sending any power signals if the unit is on (and inadvertantly turning it off right before sending it further codes)...

please let me know any input you may have.

Thank you in advance
andy

We use Prontos in many of our conference rooms. I don't have experience with your devices, but the setup is in some ways the same.

The Pronto does not have sensing, but you should search for discrete codes for your devices. Also the IR bouncing off the screen should be enough for the projector.

Thanks for the input, I'm not sure whether the placement of the components would facilitate the IR bouncing in the right direction. The screen would be against the wall, the projector would be obviously in front of it, but we're not sure where the AV stuff would really be at the moment, and it would probably end up in some cabinet sooner or later to keep people from playing with the buttons and messing with cables... so might as well do the extender now anyway.

just to make sure, there should be no problems with communication if i get the extender and put all the AV stuff in a cabinet correct?

Thanks again,
andy

Should be ok as long as there isn't interference from elsewhere. What kind of interference? Hard to say. If you try it and have interference you can try moving the extender around a bit, a little movement can sometimes make a difference. Also, there is another thread which discusses getting better range from these things.

like jcl insinuated, no one can guaranty that. RF is tricky because it is less restricted then IR, so the RF of one device can affect an other. Also IR is necessarily line of sight, but RF is not, and anything it travels through has an effect on it to varying degrees. The only way to be sure is to try it out, and if it does not work move it a bit.
