Hello out there, I just purchased a Pronto TSU3000 and I am about to go crazy. Below you'll find a list of all the items in my home theater. I would like to simply learn how to download the proper information and send it to my remote. I have dabbled a little bit with no success. Please help me so I can sleep in my own bed again as my wife has kicked me out for purchasing this remote and not knowing how much work it was going to be. Thank you in advance for your help.

TV: Mitsubishi WS-65611
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V1400
Satellite: Echostar PVR 501 (Dish Network)
DVD: Mitsubishi DD-6040
VCR: Mitsubishi HS-U445

PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

What you need to do is download a couple of the superb .PCFs in the files area.

Since all devices have pretty much similar commands, and most can be controlled with a smller subset, figure out which PCF you like and replace the IR commands in that PCF with those of your devices....learn direct from your remotes.

For instance, even though it may have many sophisticated or unique commands, your DVD's basic commands are pretty much the same as any other DVD, so take the appropriate pages from an existing DVD PCF and add your IR commands in place of those in it now.

Same with other devices.

Then spend some time pruning out devices, pages and commands you do not use. Modify to suit your needs and preferences as well.

You can expect to do several iterations before having your "perfect" config, but that is part of the fun (really) with the Pronto.

En-route to your final config, you should have some completely usable iterations. They will just require fine-tuning.

Make sure you are doing your programming attached to a PC, not freehand on the Pronto. Attached is much faster, and you can preview in the emulator.

Dave's Ultimate Pronto Guide is a worthwhile purchase. For $15 it is FAR superior to the Philips documentation and it leads you through just about everything a Pronto can do. http://www.prontowizard.com/

Daniel's PCF is a superb example of what you can do using virtually every capability of the system. Great bitmaps and impressive exploitation of every facet of Pronto programming.

There are many much better than mine (which is posted here too) but as an example, my 3 and 4 year old daughters are able to operate my config. I used some superb graphics from the other PCFs in the collection, and built an activity-based config.

If no kids, consider tweaking something like I did, but instead of Kid's TV and Dad's TV, do Living Room TV and Bedroom TV.

Once you have it working right, your wife will forgive you (especially if you add some "Hot Buttons" for her to go to her favorite channels)

Flowers always help too.

Hey Tin,

Thanks so much for the starter help, I think I am starting to understand it all (yeah right!) If you don't mind, It would be great if I could get a little one on one from you. Let me know if that is ok and we'll talk about what forum we will use (phone, instant message, here, etc...) thanks again.

Might it help for you to remind your wife what a truly big canoe you have? And that you know how to row it?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Canoe,

Dave's guide is MUCH better than what I can tell you over the phone.

It is everything Philips SHOULD have done but didn't and will lead you through the process from start to finish with many "best practices" that keep you from making the mistakes we all did when we first started doing Pronto configs.

Seriously, it's $15 well spent.
