I am having the following problem with my TSU 3000 (new firmware and software): Occasionally, when I am using it, my pronto basically resets itself (ie. the pronto symbol appears on the screen, and it takes me back to my home page). I cannot figure out why this is happening. There are no jumps in any of the buttons I am using (I checked). I originally programmed my pronto with the old firmware and software. When I began using the new firmware and software, I just uploaded the old configuration from my pronto and used it with the software/firmware. Could this be the problem?

I have just found my remote doing the same thing. I am using the firmware version 3.1.15. It does not happen to all of the buttons, just a few of them seem to have gone stupid. I have even reloaded it from the computer and that didn't work. So then I tried o relearn the buttons that restart the pronto, but that didn't work either.
Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

I was just reading some other threads and they said something about take the batteries out. I just did that and the button I wanted to press now works again. Maybe this has something to do with the batteries running low, I might change them and see if I have any more problems.

I just tried taking the batteries out, and putting them back in and so far so good. The TSU3000 appears to be working normal again. Thanks.

I am a little concerned as well. We have had 5 Prontos behave like this in the last month or so. I thought maybe it was caused by a bad batch of remotes. I am still monitoring these customers and awaiting any more complaints about the remote locking up or acting awkward in any way.

I've had this problem also, and I've convinced myself that it is related to low batteries. Here's the rationale:
1) Only happens when the battery indicator is at the low end of 2 bars
2) Only happens on my top level macro screen (as far as I have observed) My guess is that when the backlight comes on, and you start sending a load of IR commands one after the other, it puts a sudden drain on the battery (batteries don't like sudden drains)
3) The hard keys which don't activate the backlight work in that scenario
4) Philips put in a fix in the new upgrade to give better battery life, which has may have just slid along the voltage scale that the battery circuit compares to.
5) Most modern electronic devices have a voltage supervisor which will cause a reset if the voltage on powerup does not exceed a certain value.
6) The first time this started happening, my batteries were low. I replaced the batteries, and the remote didn't do this for a month or so, and now they are low again.
Anyone have any contradicting observations?
Suggestion to Philips - Have an option where the backlight doesn't come on if the batteries are low, so the remote remains usable even if you need to turn the room light on.

Hello, This problem does not occurs when the light is off. It only occurs when batteries show 1 or 2 blocks and when i push a key witch sent IR code with the light on. Is pronto team can help us to solve this big bug or tell us how to come back to the oldier but better version (It's impossible to go back !)

I had another interesting thing happen to the remote last night. It was just sitting on the coffee table and it made the sound whn it boots up. Then the screen would not show anything at all. I took the batteries out and put them back in and has been fine since. Anyone else had this happen?
Cheers Paul

Guess, rebooting happens when there is enough poer TO DO SOME OPERATION. When idle, theres enough power to be idle. When LCD and backlight are on and IR is being sent, more power is required. Guess learning of IR codes require much more power. I had an experience during learning where it said that there is not enough battery to learn and returned back to use mode. So, the verdict: Q: What does the pronto battery say to the user? A: "You better keep me charged" - Zombie

I have the latest firmware and PENG software. I had an experience in which pushing ANY button in a particular page caused my Pronto to always reboot. In PENG I removed the page and recreated it manually to resolve the problem. Copying and pasting the entire page didn't help. I had to manually copy and paste each button individually. After I recreated the page, the problem went away.

See below the reply from Pronto !! If somebody has another solution than waiting for years, please tell us !! Tanks - %-( Yaya ----------------------------------------- You are right that it is not possible to downgrade ProntoNG to an earlier firmware version. As we take these matters serious (we want people to be happy with their Prontos), we may will come with an update in order solve the issue you addressed. For the moment, it is impossible to say when this will be, but please visit our website www.pronto.philips.com on a regular basis in order to learn when a new firmware is released.

Guys, it is not a firmware issue. When any model pronto with and firmware revision in it sees that it does not have enough power to operate, it resets itself. Not so much on purpose, but the battery level basically gets sucked to a level that the pronto cannot operate on and it dies. When the it dies, it sees enough power to turn back on, so it does. Your best bet is to get a docking station for it.

This information appears in another thread and may be helpful. It would be great if someone can confirm this. Incidentally, he ends by saying this is much easier, but he does not say what it is much easier than. Anybody know?
DOWNGRADE FIRMWARE EASILY! Written by Squash51 on 05/17/04 17:29
Ok, first just install the latest version of the firmware there is. Yes, I know this sounds weird so far, so just bear with me. During the reinstall of the latest firmware, just after it gets done clearing files from the remote, disconnect the USB cable from the remote! The install will fail and it's almost like essentially formatting your Pronto remote. Then just install whichever Firmware version you wish.
My apologies to the search critics if this has been suggested before, but I have done an extensive search and have not seen anything similar to this imo much easier solution.
