I have read the advice that in order to get discrete commands to work one can try inserting a 0.1s delay. I have a number of questions about this.
Should that delay be issued before or after the sending of the command?
Does increasing the delay make the command more likely to work or is there something special about 0.1s?
My particular problem is with my Marantz DV4100 DVD player and the on/off command. Sometimes on issuing the on/off command the dvd player locks up to all remote control commands from my Pronto or original remote for 5 mins. The marantz remote codes are the same a Philips codes. Does anyone have any experiance with this?
Thanks,
David.

The .1 second delay is for people that, after the new firmware, have to press the buttons on the pronto for a second or so in order to send a command. Adding the .1 second delay after the learned command creates a macro. Macros have a longer burst length (amount of time the code is sent). This has solved some peoples problems. My terminology may not be 100% but this is basically what is happening. It sounds like you may not have the correct code or a bad learn. The delay shouldn't help with your dvd player locking up.
