I am in the process of putting my music (4000 songs) on my computer, and then linking the computer to the TV/stereo receiver. I want to be able to view my music through media player on the TV. Is there a remote that will control the media player. I would bascically take the place of the the mouse and keyboard to a certain extent. At the very least, I would need - enter, tab, and arrow keys.

I also want a remote that can run my digital cable box from Time Warner. That is something that will bring up the on screen guide. It seems like cheap remotes will not do this.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Try searching this forum if you want one of the Pronto NG remotes to control the Media player.

There's plenty of discussion. There are problems, but there are also solutions. It's a pretty easy topic to do search on.

If you didn't particularly prefer a Pronto NG (as in you said "Is there a remote") then why did you post here? Anyway, any JP1 capable remote plus a JP1 cable can do a better job of controlling the Media Player than any Pronto and at a lower cost. That topic has also been well covered in the JP1 forum:

HI JD,

HP has a very reasonable media server which works between your pc (where the mp3 files are) and your stereo/TV. I believe it offers wireless or wired network connections to you pc. The unit would typically reside near your stereo stuff and is then operated via a tv interface and comes with a simple remote. I have seen it several times, hopefully I have not mis-stated any of the features.

Good Luck!

I have an MP3 jukebox based on a PC with 20GB of songs + ripped DVD's amd digital pictures that I control with my Pronto.

With my Media PC I just purchased a soundblaster Extegy USB sound card which comes with an IR interface and IR remote. I just programmed the PC to respond as required to the IR and then learned the commands to my Pronto. It's not perfect, but for what I want, it is nearly perfect.

I bought a hardware solution , that is the turtle beach audio tron,

All the Audio is STILL stored on the PC or SERVER or NAD(Network Attached Storage)(read - hard drive with network plug).

And the audio tron streams it across the network..

you can have multiple units in different rooms , etc etc..

Great unit..

Stuart
