This post is probably for Dave Houston.

Codegen creates codes for all 16 X-10 addresses when the Pronto-ir543 combination is selected. Yet the ir543 has only 8 addresses. Is there a way to get all 16?

I've seen Dave's recommendation to get the ir543ah, but it is 5x the price and I wanted to test the system on the cheaper device before investing in the more expensive unit.

It responds to all 16 as IR. It's only the manual switches that are limited.

If you shop around you should be able to find the AH version for $75-80.

You really won't be testing the AH version as it uses an entirely different processor.

You can convert the IR543...

Thank you, Dave. I ordered the conversion board as you suggested. BTW, it is sourced in the UK and is currently out of stock, so I'll be interested to see if it becomes available soon. Meantime, where can you buy a finished AH at the price you cited? The only US source I've been able to find is Smarthome - a bit pricey.

The weakness of the dollar has affected the price on things imported from Europe.

    http://www.homeautomationnet.com has it for $95.

You can get it from Baran-Harper in Canada for about $US60.
