Does anyone know where I can get the codes for this DTV receiver? I just bought it and would like to add it in to my NG. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't you learn the codes from the oem remote?

JCI, you bring up a good point. I am amazed that so many people ask for remote codes when they can learn them and test them.

I suppose it may be faster to use someone elses codes. But when you do you run the risk of someone else having bad learns, mislabeled buttons, or incomplete buttons. I have always felt more comfortable learning everything into the remotes myself.

I don't like using other people's codes because there is usually something wrong with them as Jon points out.

Sorry to bring it up guys. I thought this forum was for the sharing of information, to include the codes you already had. I can program all the remotes I have, and I can set up all the graphics. It would save time to have someone else's, even if a few are wrong. But hey, I'll get it either way. And fear not, I'll post or be willing to share 'em up when I'm done.

Peace out

I think you are missing the pont being made. By all means, use other people's codes, especuially when you don't have the remote, the codes you need are not on the remote, or are difficult to learn.

However, the point being made is that it is usually easier and much faster to learn codes yourself.

(snipped for brevity)
How could it be faster to learn no less than 35 buttons one at a time and then program them to and set up a screen for the buttons......AFTER making said buttons? I can, and have done it both ways and learning the buttons from the remote can also run into bad learns, etc. There is no time saved doing it that way as opposed to borrowing a button set that is already made up. That is, of course, unless I'm totally missing a way to program the entire remote, button for button, in a quicker way than one at a time. Please, let me know if there's a different way and how that way is a time saver.

It is called a template, look at your default TSU3000 or TSU7000 .pcf file that comes preloaded with the software. Crtl + drag and drop it into your file and just delete the unused buttons. Or you can actually use that template and the codeset database. If you use one of the templates from the default .pcf, then if you make your settings under the device properties, all of the buttons within that device are automatically mapped to their appropriate ir function. Do what ever you want, people here are just giving you some options.

I think the time it saves is that if you download someone else codes they may not be complete or correct. So you will spend the time linking all of the codes, downloading to the remote only to find out that some buttons don't work. Then you have to go back and learn the commands anyway.

It is mostly just not knowing that something is 100% correct. If I learn everything myself I know they are right.

Problems I have encountered with other people's codes:

- they did not label them exactly as they appeared on the original remote, which makes it quite hard to figure out what is what (even worse if you end up mismatching them)

- not every button has been learnt so you have to learn some anyway (or merge in yet another config)

- they did not put them all on the one page, which makes it hard to find where all the codes are

- even if on the one page, they not laid out in a similar manner to the original remote making it hard to figure out what is actually there or missing

- the same code appears multiple times and are a little bit different which means you have to choose which to use

- some codes are actually dirty

What I do when I get new equipment is:

- design a page (or pages) with very simply buttons laid out roughly the same way as the original remote

- label the buttons identically to the original remote

- download to Pronto

- learn each code

- upload

- add any known codes that are not on the original remote (such as discretes)

- add some buttons with macros for workarounds for lack of discrete codes

- download and test all codes

I can do the first 5 steps (up to upload) in around 30 minutes.
