Hi

Sorry if my question is very basic, but I am very new to this, as I only have my tsu3000 on order, & I have been browsing around prontoedit ng software. So far I think for a newbie I have understood the software ok, but the only thing thing that I don't understand is;

The top area of the screen. When I open some configuration files from here I noticed that many of them are grayed out on the top of the display, yet some of them have a row of device icons. When I click on properties it appears that nothing can be altered. My question is; is the top row of the screen configurable, & if so how?

Again, apologises if my question is very basic for this newsgroup, perhaps I haven't searched for the answer hard enough, but go easy on me as I am a newbie!

Are you talking about the top area of the software or the top area of device screens? The top area of the software will vary depending on if you are looking at the system page versus other pages. The system page allows many of the toolbar buttons to become active (not grayed out). These can only be added on the system page. If you are talking about device pages. The whole screen is customizable with you own icons and graphics. Or, you can move around factory icons and symbols but you can't easily change them.

If you have any other specific questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for your reply.
I am refering the area on the top of the device screen, which, as far as I can work out is used for navigating between screens, & does seem to be factory icons like you say. The configuration that I am interested in is Daniel's TSU3000 Configuration
downloaded from here. On the top of the device screen he has icon's for different devices (eg tv, vcr1, etc). How do you configure this?

Most people just put a background that covers all of the factory components then add their own graphics that can do whatever they want. You can use the factory backgrounds and simply remove or cover up the factory navigation buttons. Most people like to use their own type of navigation.

Anything that you see greyed out on a device page are the system-wide background and system items. You can modify the system-wide items on the System Page.

Remember that you have to edit the PCF in 'Advanced' mode to be able to change the System Page.

Thanks for the replies, I have now managed to edit system wide area using the system page. What I am now confused about is looking at Daniel's TSU3000 Configuration, he has different system areas on different pages (e.g. on one page you can select one of 5 other devices by seperate icons on the top of the screen, then on another page there are different devices), & when I go into his system page, it is blank. Any idea's?

ok...each device panel is again "fully customizable" which means at the top where you can choose an independent device you can switch that device i.e. dvd for cd or cable for satellite...and so on! all you have to do is open up daniels gallery and select one of the other small icons to replace it with you can change this by device which is what most people do or for some reason if you must by each panel! it is all up to you... he does not use the system page to customize the top of each device page, it is does on each device panel..hope that answers the question.

Thinking back, those buttons for each device may be grouped together..though i'm not sure. You may have to ungroup them before you can edit them. (right click on the group and click 'ungroup')If they are not grouped, then this tip will help you when you try to change navigation controls.

Thanks for all the replies, managed to sort it now, it does appear to be grouped as mentioned.
