Another bug/annoyance with the new firmware: the contrast settings are always reset after downloading a pcf to the 3000.

Does it take longer to learn IR in the editor?
I wanted to learn an entire new remote (TiVo remote
with a different ID). The first time I tried learning
a button, I gave up before it learn. It took a
surprisingly long time before it beeped.

I've never tried learning from this remote, but
this seems exceptionally long. It took forevert
to learn the whole remote.

Yes, learning mode is very noticeably slower with this firmware version. It was never very fast before, but now it typically takes almost four seconds to learn a single code! Even non-repeating codes can't be learned anymore by pressing the source button quickly - you have to hold it down until the 3000 beeps. It appears to learn the code with a short press, but the code doesn't work when tested. Good thing my codes are already learned.

Philips, why does it now take so long to learn IR codes?

I mean it took a long time, 4 sec I wouldn't have thought was slow. I would have guessed 20 sec, but I just measured 13 sec to learn a button.

I tried just a few device codes, but 13 seconds is pretty bad. Have you tested whether those learned codes actually work?

Does anybody know how to revert to the previous firmware version? The new version has removed most of my X10 RF functionality (I use, or rather used to use, the Pronto's RF functionality to directly control X10 devices without the need to use an RF<_>X10 converter; this only worked in Europe with the European Pronto due to the same RF frequency). ON/OFF commands work, but now my DIM/BRIGHT commands to control my lighting no longer function.

I tried using the installer that came with the previous firmware version, but it refuses to revert to an older firmware version.

Does anybody know a solution?

For me the new firmware has been a disaster!

They actually work. I wouldn't be doing this if they didn't.

It takes just as long if I learn from the tools in the remote, so it sounds like a firmware issue.

Hi,

I'm also having problems with the ON-OFF function of the Sanyo PLV-Z1, I also have to hold the key to work.

Puting a delay did not solve the problem like philips suggested, if you do that the projector does not awnser at all.

I'll use the new firmware because the benifts in speed are good. But I'll have to turn the Projector on and off manually for now.

Best Regards,
Marcos

Great Upgrade, Congratulations, solved all my issues.

To solve the SanyoZ1 problem you have to change the IR code to 1 in the projector and the remote. Pronto NG will work fine with this set up.

With the new upgrade my macros run too fast and are sent out before the equipment has had time to react to the previous code and be ready for the next.

If I put a delay between codes will the output be the same as it was with the previous or is the code itself actually sent quicker?

If so what delay would make it the same as before?

I had to adjust many of my macro delays, but that solved the problem for me. How much you have to adjust depends on your equipment and the particular sequence of events, I'd imagine.

I think the update is outstanding. The LCD contrast is much improved, and the lack of delay when hitting buttons is great. Also, it's nice to be able to hit a hard button only once instead of twice to wake the remote up. Now, I just need the batteries to last more than a week :-)

Kudos to the Pronto Team!!! My major issue was battery life. Since I loaded the upgrade I have not put the remote in the charger, battery life has at least doubled for me. The timer feature is also most welcome. I can quickly program the VCR without turning on the TV and VCR. All my macros work without change. Thanks.

re adding .1 delay to IR code to make longer burst to solve bobbled codes. Do you mean that I should edit the IR hex code itself (if so, what do I add or do to it?) or do you mean simply that I should insert pronto's own delay codes into my macros between the button push calls?

The latter.
