My Dish network receiver model 2700 suffers from the problem outlined in the FAQ B2-05 - short button pushes do not initiate the required action even though the Pronto beeps to indicate the button has been touched. Creating macros which send the code twice solves the problem but you can't use this for the navigation buttons (up/down/left/right) since these have to be able to send code continually when the button is "held". I have been experimenting with lengthening the IR codes to contain multiple commands and I have found that sending a single code with three repeat commands works every time, even with a very short touch.
Anybody interested in getting a set of reliable navigation codes just e-mail me....

From your title I thought you were going to to say you switched to DTV :) If and when I get a 6000 to go with my DTC-100 I may hit you up for that email.

Nick (aka texaprit)- You da man! You sent me your codes and they worked perfectly in my Dish 6000.

Here's what Nick has solved for (I assume) all DISH network receivers: you can now have a CHANNEL UP and DOWN button that repeats! I had given up on this. I think you should post your codes here.

They work on the 2700 and 6000 - don't know about the others. The codes send the "single" code three times. This is enough to "guarantee" a single touch of the button works, but not enough to move the cursor twice for a single touch. (FYI, Sending the "single" code only twice does not work, even if I lengthen the intercode delay to its maximum value.)

Congratulations! Do you know what changes need to be made to support different addresses? For instance, I have two receivers, and one is on address 0 (or is it 1?) and the other is on address 5?

Thanks!

I forgot the "OK" code - here it is:
0000 0048 0001 0033 0017 0163 0018 00a3 0017 0060 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 0163 0018 00a3 0017 0060 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 0163 0018 00a3 0017 0060 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a4 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0018 00a3 0017 0163

I only have one receiver so can't experiment, although I think I know where the address bits are in the device code. Maybe someone else can help you. Anyway I will have a look at the codes tomorrowc and see if I can guess which ones change.

Perhaps you can also tell me how you modified the codes. I have a 501 and 6000, but your new codes don't work on the 501 BUT the 501 is at address 5. I haven't tried the codes for the 6000, which is at address 0 (or 1 -- whatever the normal address is).

Thanks.

I have the short-button-push problem for the 2700 too.

Has anyone modified the codes for:

browse
menu
guide
view
cancel
the number keypad
guide page up
guide page down

It's relatively easy to do this yourself. For instance, the code for "Guide" for my 6000 on address zero (or one -- whatever the default address is) is the following:

0000 0048 0001 0011 0017 0163 0017 00a3 0016 0062 0017 00a3 0016 0061 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 0163

To change this to a longer code, ignore the "0000 0048 0001", change "0011" to "0033", ignore the "0017 0163", and copy the "0017 00a3 ... 0017 0163" twice. Consequently, the long code is:

0000 0048 0001 0033 0017 0163 0017 00a3 0016 0062 0017 00a3 0016 0061 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 0163 0017 00a3 0016 0062 0017 00a3 0016 0061 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 0163 0017 00a3 0016 0062 0017 00a3 0016 0061 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 00a3 0017 00a3 0016 00a3 0017 0163

This basically sends the command and device codes three times for every press of the button. The "0017 0163" is the "lead out" (see the files section on IR storage in the pronto) character. I've tried placing only one of these at the end of the sequence, but it didn't work. I'm not sure why this works, as I would think that it would cause multiple receptions of the command. However, it does work and works very well. Perhaps the receiver has been programmed to ignore key presses if they occur too close in time.

I have yet to create these codes for my 6000 (address 0/1), although I do have some of them created for my 501 (address 5).

Do you know if this technique works with the DISH 301 receiver? I have had terrible trouble learning functions to a Pronto Pro. Some codes learn and act Ok after many many attempts. Others appear as though they learned but don't transmit anything. Still others learn Ok but either reboot or lock up the remote when pressed. What's the reason for this? Also, Dish's tech support was no help whatsoever.

They should work with basically any Dish receiver. The code for "up arrow", for instance, is exactly the same on my 6000 as it is on my 501. In fact, if you go to the files section, you can use someone else's ccf file for the 501 (or 301) and use their codes instead of learning your own codes (although I did learn my own codes).
