Bought a new pronto off of ebay. I received it today, put the batteries in, the right-hand buttons light up and the pronto beeps four times. The screen does nothing. I have played with the contrast and also reset the machine in the back. Still nothing on the screen. The manual states that the Pronto should beep twice, not four times. I have a call into Philips. Is there anything else I can try?

Four beeps means a corrupt flash. If you have the cable, load up ProntoEdit, connect the Pronto and select "ProntoUpdate". If it asks you to overwrite anything, say yes.

Daniel,
Your suggestion worked like a charm. Can't thank you enough. Now it's time to play!!
