Discrete codes for OLDER Mitsubishi TVs

I bought one of the first 40" Mitsubishi TVs they ever made--I think the model number is the CS40-FX1, purchased around 1992. While a number of the discrete codes posted here will work for it (discrete input selection, for example), for some reason it will not respond to the discrete "on" and "off" codes.

Is anyone aware of whether there are other discrete "on" and "off" codes for older Mitsubishi TVs? (I realize it's possible that the older sets simply don't respond to discrete "on" and "off" codes, but I didn't want to give up without a try!)

Thanks in advance.
