Is the LCD screen on the new pronto the same as the most recent (and disappointing )ones on the old pronto or have they upgraded for the new model?

They're the same screen. However, some people have the found the very most recent screens to be a bit better.

Philips has apparantly standardized on a single screen source -- which I believe was their very first source. I've never seen one of the "bad" screens, so I can only go by my original so-called "good" screen. Contrast ratio on the TSU2000 is slightly less than my early remote, and everything (including "black") seems somewhat bluer.
