The "decompiler" converts a CCF into a text-based format from which you can use a regular text editor (say Notepad or Wordpad) to make batch changes (something ProntoEdit doesn't allow). The "compiler" converts it back to a CCF. These don't yet work with the ProntoEdit v2.0 format.

You should start by downloading some of the utilities for building CD jukebox CCFs from the Files section. Follow the instructions contained therein.

The decompiler only gives you a text (readable) version of your CCF and a bunch of bmp files (your icons). It is useful if you want to look at all icons, finding unwanted icons, changing all similar buttons in one shot (you might need to move them a bit if the new icon is not the exact same size as the old one), and non icon based changes such as changing all delays from x sec to y sec (using replace in a text editor) or like I have done once replace many IR codes without having to redo all aliases or cut and past IR codes.

For CD's you need to use one of the utilities (some use excel some use text and others are propriatary)that will make the changes in your CCF or CSF.
