Does the T2000 hold LARGER ccf and gallery files??

Does the T2000's extra 1Meg of memory get used up for the Universal codes, as noted in other posts? If this is the case, would that not mean that the actual size of the CCF would be the same as for the T1000, since the 1000 has 1Meg of memory. Thus BOTH remotes would have 1 meg allotted for ccf's. Am I right on this????

drhb,

I am very new to this, I just got my TSU2000 yesterday. I'll take a shot, and hope someone will substantiate me or correct me.

In the TS1000 model, approximately 2 thirds of the memory is used for firmware and Philips/Marantz codes. This leaves around 380 Kb for CCF.

In the TSU2000 model, approximately half is used for firmware and the codes database. This leaves around 980 Kb for CCF.

Anyone care to check my number?

Alan, Thanks for the reply. If that IS the case, then it would be a significant plus to use the T2000 over the 1000 for those of us who use larger CCF's....

Actually, I just installed my ProintoEdit 2.0 software. I looked in the pronto.ini file. The limits appear to be there and this is what I found.

size = 380
universal_size = 960

If these are accurate numbers, we have our answer.

Alan, if the 380 indicates ccf size, that is the SAME as on the T1000. I guess the ccf size IS the same....

How about the RC5000i? As far as I know, it doesn't have a lot of built-in IR codes like T2000, so should it have more room for CCF? Thanks

The RC5000i software shows that it has room for CCF files up to 1276k (per pronto.ini). To my understanding this is because it does not carry the IRDB on board. The DB is still available through the editing software. This is one of the reasons that I chose the RC5000i over the TSU2000 (that and the web like fwd/back functions)

This is based on the software, not the unit it self as mine is on order, but it should be in by mid week. I'll let you know if I find anything different.

Looks like http://www.pronto.philips.com has the specs for both Prontos listed. Bottom line the 2000 has 2MB of Flash Memory the 1000 1MB of Flash Memory, both only have 512K of SRAM. I believe that the amount of SRAM limits the size of the ccf, not the Flash Memory.

The marantz web site only has high level info posted, no information on SRAM size. Anybody know? The following tip taken from the RC5000i setup manual may give a clue:
"Set your memory size to 2 MB before adding to the gallery. That way your gallery can have up to 1404 kb of artwork in it even if you are programming a 1 MB RC5000."

Jay,

Where did you get the 5000i and price (if you don't mind). I looked for one, but did not find a source other than nearly list price.

Thanks all for the responses.
Jim, I think you have "the final answer..." It looks like the Marantz is the REAL unit to get if one needs a larger CCF.....

The International version of the 2000 will not have the IR database, and thus will have the same capacity as the RC5000i (1276kb). I think someone said that you can use the U.S. version without the database and presumably get the extra memory back.

Actually the RC5000i can hold 1404kb -- 380kb plus a full unused 1024kb = 1404kb. The TSU2000 can hold 960kb. The European TSU2000 can hold 1404kb. This is all in the FAQ. :-)

If your version of RC5000 Setup sets the INI file to 1276kb when you select the 2mb model, I believe you're using an earlier version of it.

SRAM is operating memory, flash is where data (programs & your file) is stored.

I've just noticed that ProntoEdit V2 has 3 options under Save As:

DB Pronto Configuration Files
Pronto Configuration Files
Old ProntoConfiguration Files

The first obviously includes the database, and the last makes sure it will work with older firmware. I assume that the second is for the International version and will give you all the memory (1404kb), though there is nothing in the ini file to specify a maximum size.

The middle one might be what the RC5000 uses.
