I am looking at getting a Pronto and keep reading that people cant crack a code for the power on or off on the TV's etc or cant get codes for their equipment etc. What do they mean? Why not just learn the function by pressing the power button on one remote while the Pronto learns it etc? Or am I misunderstanding what everyone is saying?
Please clarify someone.

People are looking for discrete codes. This means, codes that are turning TV or another equipment On with one button and Off with another. The two signals have to be different. By this way you are sure your equipment is not setting Off when you push On. These functions are mostly not available on the standard remotes, and both functions are activated with the same IR signal.
