I managed to get hold of a copy of V2. Interestingly, it is dated Ausust 21st.

There are no new features that I can see apart from the inbuilt IR database. It has NONE of the new features added for RC5000 Setup V2.

There is also no new gallery like the RC5000 has.

Some of the user interface has changed significantly. Entry of icons and colors are now on single tabs and much easier to use. You can now see all 4 icons on the one tab, and a sample of each of the four different color combinations on the one tab.

Entry of IR Codes is the area most changed. There is now a single button to click for entering a code. This brings up a separate window from where an in-built code can be selected, or you can press a button to learn a code. There is now an additional button to then view the hex form of the code. However, this is displayed in a non-editable text box. There appears to be no way to cut/past codes as before.

I am hoping that the downloadable version to be released shortly has more new features in it, and cut/paste is restored. If not, Philips will have some very angry consumers.

ProntoEdit 1.05 CCF's won't work on 2000 series Prontos? That's too bad if 2.0 means you have to -lose- functionality. (although, from what you say 2.0 seems improved except for the cut-and-paste problem.)

Who said that 1.05 CCFs wouldn't work on new remotes? Is that true? Tell me it's not true! heh

If you need to cut-n-paste the odd code you could use Olivier Couvreur's CCF Decompiler and load the result into a text editor. Hardly ideal, but if you don't need to do it much and have the option of using 2.0, it's probably worth it.

The improved usability of 2.0 sounds good but not good enough for me to buy a new remote just for that, esp. when I only need to use ProntoEdit once in a blue moon now that I'm configured. :-)

No one said that 1.05 CCfs do not work with V2. They definitely do work.

Also the decompiler currently does not work for V2 if you use any of the inbuilt IR codes.

Newbie Question: Anyone know if IRdatabase works with the TS2000? If so, couldn't one update the IRdatabase to allow for cut/paste codes?

The file rcir.mdb is still installed. However, there is no button for loading codes from it. So, I'd have to say there is no support for IRdatabase in V2.

About the ONLY thing that's changed in ProntoEdit 2.0 is the button properties section -- where you load IR codes, change bitmaps, text, colors, etc.
