I'm a newbie with a brand new TS 1000. I've searched the forum and looked for faqs on connection problems. I keep getting the message 'Pronto not connected or not responding'. My mouse and keyboard are using the PS2 port, nothing on com1 serial port. I've got a printer hooked up, no Palm, etc. Several basic questions:
(1) Does pronto have to be on to UL/DL?
(2) Com1 baud rate? It was set at 9600 8N1.
Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
NewBDan

1) No 2) 115K, but atually probably dosn't matter
Check the programs that you have running in the background i.e. in your system tray. I have had several conflicts that gave me thaat error message, just shut them all down.

Some modems can create the problem Make sure it is completely plugged in (if you can see metal, it is not)

In regards to your problem, I have noticed some things that may offer you some help.
Before starting prontoedit, exit out of any applications that make use of the serial ports. A common example of such a device is a portable digital assistant (palm pilot, etc.).
Second, I have found that right before downloading into the pronto it is generally a good idea to give the screen a quick tap and make sure it is on. More often than not, doing this has made a finicky pronto take a program.
I hope this helps. -Jon
