Toshiba has done it. They now have direct (almost) input codes for switching video sources. It's a 2 stage method but basically you choose input then the number input you want.
1 TV
2 Video1
3 Video2 and so on
so to directly access my HD component vid input I alias:

Finally toshiba can be taken of the TOAD list, at least this model (61HX70)61" RPTV
