I am looking at importing a Pronto to the UK and have some compatibility questions.

1. The HK learning remote I have supplied with the 250 AVi amplifier needs to be pointed directly at the amp to work properly. I read somewhere that it is sometimes not the fault of the remote but the sensitivity of the receiving equipment. That said I understand that the Pronto doesn't seem to have a problem transmitting it's signals to anything.

I think it is a case of the amplifier not being sensitive enough because my other devices (CD, DVD etc) seem to work fine when signals are sent from the HK remote.

Am I likely to have this problem communicating with the amp with the Pronto?

2. I also have a Seleco 400 projector. This is supplied with two remotes - a basic and an engineers remote. The first is (obviously) basic and the second allows direct access to convergence, deflection, size etc set-ups. The problem lies in some extremely complex routines to get into the engineers menu i.e hold button X down for an extended period, press exit button 7 times, move to XYZ etc - you get the picture.

Are these commands easy to program into the Pronto and does it do it directly i.e do all the various screens come up en-route to the screen you actually want or does it go direct to the actual screen?

One last thing, another UK user of the Pronto said that the Seleco doesn't work with the Pronto on account of it having two remotes. I managed to control the Seleco with my supplied HK learning remote - any reason why the Seleco's complex remote wouldn't work with the Pronto?

Any advice, experiences using the above equipment?

I have the H/K AVR80 MII receiver and its original remotes needs to be pointed nearly directly at the receiver to operate it, but when I use the Pronto to operate it I can point the Pronto in any direction. :)

That seems to solve one problem with the amplifier. Anyone any insights or experiences with the Seleco projector?

I own an older Seleco projector, which only comes with one remote. I had the problem, that the beamer would not respond to "learned" codes of any programmable remote. I found out, that the remotes I used were simply not strong enough (I sit directly under the beamer, so reaching the front or bock ir-eye is not easy) the strong ir emitters inside the pronto helped, but the real solution was to get an ir-extender system (which i directly plugged into the remote-socket on the back of the seleco). i dont know if this helps you (maybe also a possibility for the amp ?) - if you are interested, check out www.xantech.com (i am not affiliated with them, its just the system i use....)
