I am looking for a way to control the lights, fans, electronics throughout my house. I found the 8210RCA, it converts IR to a RF transmits the RF to a similar unit in another room, where it is converted back to RF. Will this work with the pronto?

I assume you meant back to IR. Yes, this will work fine with the Pronto. Walls? We don't need no steeenking walls! :-)

Search www.smarthome.com for the Powerhouse 4040. It converts IR to X10. They have several other products to help you do home automation.

One for all (universal remotes) also sells a similar product, called the Remote Extender (I think) I works well with the Pronto.

John. I am a home automation consultant and product supplier. I am also a Pronto enthusiast and frequent this excellent forum often. If you are looking for the IR543 (aka 4040), and other home automation equipment, we often can match or come close to Home Automation System's pricing (aka www.smarthome.com). We also offer the added benefit of excellent technical support for all of the products you purchase.

There are many types of home automation products available and some are excellent, and some aren't so great. I help customers choose the right type of equipment to meet their specific needs. The IR543 is the first piece of equipment you need to get things started. Once you get an IR543 you will want to get some X-10 receivers (e.g. light switches, lamp modules, appliance modules, ceiling fan switches, appliance switches, etc.). Making the right product choices initally will save you money in the long run.

I use a Pronto in my home to control over 50 lights and lamps, the heating and cooling system, the coffee maker, to listen to voice mail messages over my house speaker system, and I get voice confirmations over the house speakers for most Pronto commands. Pronto is a great "front end" for home automation because of the flexibility of the Panel design, and the relatively low cost for a touch screen.

Take a look at our website if you are interested in home automation. You can download a document containing home automation examples by going to the "Download" area.
