I thought that people have said that the pronto has a strong enough of IR beam to work from under a blanket. Since Winter has arrived, I have tried to use it from under a blanket while watching TV and I get nothing. I have had cheap stock TV remotes that at least work from under my blanket. Does anybodies Pronto work from under a blanket?

Could be a problem with your TV IR receiver, not all equipment will work from all positions in a room. However, the blanket thickness is a factor too:) Pronto will, with a good positioned IR receiver in the receiving equipment work quite well, though, from almost impossible situations. I do succeed to control my 1984 Marantz RC-430 remote reciever, as well as the IR to X10 convertor from a position where I completely cover any direct line of sight connection from the RC5000/Pronto. I can lay on the bed, having the RC5000 between me and the backrest, oposite side from the equipment, pointing towards the pillow, and control that equipment. However, I can not control the TV in that way, my TV has to see the Pronto, and it is virtually impossible to control the Marantz CD-53mkII. For that particular piece of equipment I have to point my RC5000/Pronto (I do have both) facing really directly towards it, the maximum sideways angle being probably less then 45 degrees. I did already discuss this problem in another thread.

If you put the tv under your blanket, it should work. If not try to cover the TV with a blanket, it's winter for it also.

Actually, I can think of better things to do under my blanket than playing with my Pronto!

Well it does work from my next door neighbors house, if we aren't under a thick blanket. Let's talk about blanket thickness. If I turn up my thermostat, I don't need as thick a blanket, and my Pronto works. When I turn down the heat, thicker blanket, no go. Hmm, heat my house properly or put up with a remote control that doesn't work from a thick blanket or down the block. I think I'll sell this piece of junk. What do you think? Well, gotta go cover up!

Norm!
If you copy text from another answer, would you please be so kind as to include the originator. Except if you have the same equipment I have.
On the lighter side: did you consider using a Marmitech pyramid, or similar IR-RF RF-IR trancievers under the blanket?
