I'd like to see the message board use cookies to track my last visit. The new message indicator doesn't work. We're not talking about some privacy invading cookie here just when was the last time I was on the board so I can see what messages are new. I can't get here every day and I'll be damned if I'm going jot the last time I was here down somewhere. That's what computers are for.
I'll be forever in your debt if you do this Daniel.

I'd really like that too. The time difference means that I have a complete day's worth of U.S. message when I come in in the morning. On Mondays I have the whole weeekend plus Friday to catch up on. I would love to not hvae to spend ages trying to figure out what I last looked at.

Might be a good idea to send these type of messages to the correct place: Questions, comments & chit chat: [email protected]Web site feedback, suggestions or problems: [email protected]

There's a few problems with it though:
1) If you visit the forums but see nothing, then go away and come back 6 hours later, only the things SINCE those 6 hours will be marked new.
2) It could probably only keep track on a forums-wide basis, not per forum.

OK, well, maybe I lied. I had actually written some cookie history tracking code last March when I added the bit that maintains your name and email address. I gave up, though, because I didn't really like the idea of how it worked.
Well, I dug it up and made some changes... and right now it's being tested in the new "Intermission" forum.

Daniel,
The cookies seem to be working great. Any chance of getting them site wide now?
Thanks.
