I want to program aan RC500i to dim lights. I am going to get the X10 4040 infrared to RF converter that has been recommended. What I need to find out is how do you program a DIM command into the RC5000 so that it dims four light switches from the brightest to the off position. I know that with the X10 controller you have to hold down the DIM switch to the desired level. With my RC 5000 how do I program a Macro that will Dim four light switches either together or seperately and not just give an on/off command? Frank

There's no easy way to do that. However, how X-10 works you can send
ID 1 ID 2 ID 3 ID 4 DIM
and all 4 lights will dim. However, there's no way to "hold" the dim command on the remote in a macro. You can try inserting many repeats (or the other workaround described in the FAQ) but it may not work the way you want. Higher-end X-10 switches include built-in "dim to off" and "dim to on" features.
