Last night my mother used my pronto to watch Gladiator, however whist using the pronto to navigate, the screeen shattered !!! No drops, no banging, just being pressed
Might this be caused by the high pitched noise that we know can cause the pronto to reset ?
Has anyone else had this problem ?
This is the second pronto of mine to go bye bye, the first didn't survive a nude from the bed onto a carpetted floor, despite what is said in the tests. I love it to bits however this is getting silly
Any thoughts or similar probs
Thanks
Mark

Mark, You might look at "Broken Screen" by Lio 11/14/00 I had the same problem. I try to remember that the pronto is a "touch screen" if you press it you may have to pay. Get Mom a pencil with a nice soft eraser to touch the screen with. Phillips replaced mine which broke within the first 30 days. After that $150. Good Luck, MarkG

Mark, the "test" for dropping a Pronto has it surviving when it falls flat, not on a corner or side.

The LCD is glass... it's fragile. Some people tend to press WAY too hard (it's a "touch" screen, not a "press" or "pound" screen), but a few remotes have been known to break during "normal" use.

But "nude from the bed" is *much* more interesting....

Try this on for size. I was sitting there playing a video game and I had just finished my turn playing and had placed the remote by the arm rest of the couch which had a pillow on it so the remote was very well protected. I left the couch for about 2 min to get the rumble pack for my controler and came back to the couch and sat down (not on the remote). I did not hit the remote or even touch it in any way other than the sound comming from the system was very loud. I looked over at the remote to change the input I was listening to and all I saw was a completely shattered screen.
Try to explain that one.
