As I mentioned in my last post, I received a lot of response in regards to our home made Proto/Pilot protectors and people are still emailing me about them.
We sold out the first bunch and have made some more of which I have about twenty left. If anyone else is interested, please email me and I will send you back a generic answer sheet that covers all the questions I have been asked about it so far, as well as details of cost, payment shipping, etc.
Please note I will be unable to answer any email between May 7-14th.

Just a note, I received two protectors from Jim today; I'll be trying them out this weekend -- I first have to clean all those ancient fingerprints off the Pronto!

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I swear I baby my Pronto so much my wife is jealous. You should see the looks she gives it ;-). I am CONSTANTLY wiping the screen off with a damp paper towel, and ALWAYS use the tip of my fingernail to operate it. I get mad when I see fingerprints on it because *someone* didn't use their fingernail. Is there something wrong with me?

I don't constantly wipe it with a damp paper towel, and don't always use the tip of my fingernail to operate it....but nobody gets to touch the Pronto, even though I've programmed it to be easily used by others.
The other solution is to just get a clear plastic bag (usually the same one that comes with the remote...but Pronto didn't come in a clear plastic bag) and wrap the Pronto in it...even GladWrap would do.
The other solution is have a box of surgical gloves next to the Pronto....
:-)

I have had a couple of people contacting me mentioneing that their Proto protectors are smaller than the actual screnn size. I beleive both cases were from the first batch that I ran off and the second batch now is better (and I can replace them if necessary). However please bear in mind that this is not a commercial product (yet) and is intended to get feedback on how well it protects the screen. When the third batch is produced, I will probably increase the demensions yet again (unless overall feedback dictates otherwise) and they will be slightly oversized and trimming will be necessary.
If a true commercial product is destined to be, then I will probably have to rent time on a laser cutter and the price will reflect that accordingly.
A few people have asked about totally protecting the screen, and having the plastic fit under the bezel on all sides. It can be done, but it is probably not practical, as youe would probably have to take your pronto apart and remove the upper half of the bezel to put the protector on or off.
I still have a about a half dozen of the current protectors, so feel free to contact me if your require one. Just a reminder I will be without email from May 7th until May14th (possibly until May 17th)
