On my JVC Video it has a button with dual functions; i.e. if you hold the FF button down while in play mode it FF until you let go of the button; but if you hit the FF button once whilst in play mode it FF until you press play or stop.
Is this scenario possible with the TC or Pronto...?

That's strictly a feature of the VCR, not the remote. Fast forward (or rewind) commands sent from the remote are "repeating signals" in that they are repeated continuously while you hold down the button. The VCR senses that the signal is constantly being sent and continues fast forwarding until the signal stops (you release the button). If you just press it once the VCR senses that it was sent just once and enters an alternate fast forward mode which continues until it senses a signal again (play, stop, FF). This is a common feature on most modern VCRs.
And yes, this will work on *any* universal remote including the TC & Pronto.

thanks for the quick response; almost like being on the telephone with tech support except its free...
The reason I ask is that I have Yamaha DSPA1 (what a great HT amp!) with a bloody ugly silver RC.. it is completely unintuitive and when I teach it my JVC commands it does not create the same behaviour with the VCR..? Any ideas..? Also; the Pronto allows the inclusion of differnet shaped buttons correct? whereas the TC does not..?

Not sure why the Yamaha's remote wouldn't work right; but I've heard a lot of complaints about it any ways. Yes, the Pronto can use ANY size button (while the TC is limited to a grid layout) - check out the CCF file area here, under Complete Systems, to see what some folks have done.

John, I too have a JVC VCR and Yamaha DSP-A1. and LOVE my Pronto. I wouldn't give it up for anything. I haven't tried what you're talking about though. But I can tell you that the Pronto is a HUGE inprovement over the Yamaha's BSR(big silver remote).

I have a Yamaha DSP-A1, DSS, RCA TV, Panasonic DVD, JVC CD. I have not purchased a Pronto yet (just found out about it yesterday) Would it control all of these? Could you have a "global" volume no mater what screen the Pronto is on?(the receiver controls the volume for all devices)
Thanks Future Pronto buyer -Russ

Russ I have a JVC TV and 2 RCA VCR's, and Pronto works them with no problem. Just keep the RCA remote atleast a foot away from pronto when learning its codes because RCA's IR signal is strong. Also Yes you can have global Channel, Volume n Mute buttons no matter which screen your at. :)

Russ- And I have an RCA DSS, JVC VCR and TV, Yamaha DSP-A1, and Panasonic A110 which the Pronto operates flawlessly. I'd be glad to answer any specific questions you may have. Get one....you'll love it!
