I just got my Pronto today. I'm starting to play with it, but if I'm understanding what I'm reaing here, I think I'm gonna be kinda upset. I also just bought the Philips widescreen 34PW9815 and while not exactly the same set mentioned above, it has the same toggle for the inputs. I was hoping to set up a macro for watching DVDs that would let me turn on the tv, turn on the DVD player (a Sony), turn on the reciever (NAD), switch to AV3 source (the DVD input), switch the reciever to DVD and start playing. Are you guys saying that is not going to be possible because the Pronto cannot switch to the correct source input? That would mean the whole concept of 'fully customizable' is bogus.

Hi Peter,

I'm not sure what the Philips rationale is, but the video input mode switching is available on some models and not others. Ironically, I would have expected this very necessary “feature” to be available on the higher-end models that generally have a large number of available video modes. If they were to be included anywhere, it would be natural to assume that the feature was available on their HDTV models. Alas, this was not the case with my top-of-the-line VERY EXPENSIVE model.

I'm not at all familiar with the 34PW9815 you have so I can't comment of whether or not there is a work around to the problem. If you haven't done so already, you may want to visit the CCF downloads area and try ccf’s from other Philips TV models.

Also, someone recently posted a work-around for the Philips 32PW9616. It didn’t work for me, but with any luck, it’ll work for you. The thread can be found at:

Let us know if it works.

Good luck -- Steve

I also have a Philips TV and have had no luck finding discretes for input switching.

The workaround I have is to use the auto switching from the scarts. Turning off my DVD player and then turning it on seems pretty successful in switching to AV-1. The same works with my Satellite box and video (and my playstation turns over too).

For normal TV, I can switch okay, using the appropriate number.

Will this work with your setup?

There's been talk about the 559701 having a slightly different input selection mechanism that is more discrete: you can pick a particular input from a menu rather than having to scroll through them.

This begs the question of the availability of discrete codes for this unit (and its 65 inch sister). Has anyone tried discrete codes for either of these sets, and not the holy-grail 9905?

So I've received some confirmation over on the AVSForum that the 9701 uses a different chassis than the 9905, and thus probably has the discrete codes for video input selection.

Just spreading knowledge ;)
