I seem to remember seeing on ZDTV, about a remote control that had computer software to program the remote (like the PRONTO), and it came with a Software database of IR codes for multiple kinds of equipment...

Is that the PRONTO software? or do you HAVE to have the original control to program the PRONTO?

Help is appreciated: [email protected]

That sounds more like the Take Control, though really the codes are built-in to the remote. The Pronto unfortunately does not come with any codes so you need the original for it to work - or download IR codes from web sites such as this.

The Pronto does use a Microsoft Access database with built-in codes for Philips & Marantz products but it is fairly limited. Manu Duarte has created an application that will allow you to add your learned IR codes to this database for future use. You can download the app from [Link: multimania.com]
I have been using it for a while now and it is very helpful and prevents me from having to re-lean codes or cut-and-paste icons/IR codes.
