Check out this copy of an e-mail I received from Sony. This kit will be available in November, I'm guessing for $250.

I have been told by Sony America that this will not be offered in the US and is for Japan only. Let's hope they are wrong.

From what I heard from other forums, the Kit is only available in Japan at the moment. So many people have e-mailed Sony US but the replies were "No such kit existed" or "never heard of it". That'd be nice if the kit will be available in the US market in November.

The new remote is not a touch pad, and I assume some funtions will rely on it (such as selecting new Sound Field), but I don't think it will replace the touch pad remote completely.

Hopefully there will be a way to obtain discrete codes from the new sound fields in the new firmware (the remote, as DJAY notes, only has a soundfield UP or Down button)....Just realized, if one can only get to the NEW soundfields via UP or Down, how would we get discrete codes for these fields?????

Has anyone figured out if there are discrete codes for this yet?

My kit arrived today and I am a little nervous!

I too just received my upgrade kit. I wonder if there is any way to obtain discrete commands for the new soundfields???
