The original authors will be better at explaining their use than I, but...
With IRTool you can cut and paste a hex code into the bottom box, then hit "Decode Hex" to break it down into its component parts, edit them, then press "Encode Hex" to recreate it in hex format. What this is good for I'm not yet sure. ;-)
ListCCF runs from DOS. You run it from ProntoEdit's directory (c:\program files\pronto\) in the format of "listCCF filename.ccf". It creates the file filename.txt, which converts the binary CCF format into a readable text format. I'd like to see summary features in new revisions.

Yeah, IR Tool using Steven Grimm's code allows you to paste a learned hex code and decode it. From there, it is an easy matter to change some parameters and generate new hex code you can copy and paste into prontoEdit and see what it does.
All warnings apply and no there are no guarantees.
I'm taking suggestions and I'd like to see this evolve into something useful, like to generate all hex for all the codes of a given device, etc. I'd also like to allow entry of OneForAll device and magic codes and generate hex from there, but don't have much hope of that occuring.

I just posted a new version of IRTool. It should be up in a day or so. This new version supports Sony and JVC codes along with the original NEC support. This makes it easy to generate new codes for these families of devices given a learned code to start with.
I have also thrown in the source code and Steve Grimm's code into the zip file so be warned that there is now a lot of other junk in the zip file.
The code is still pretty ugly and is a work in progress and yes, it leaks. I'll tighten it up when I get a chance.
Good luck,
Glenn
